Re: The mass exodus

Nope, app building is not my forte nor in my interest group. Kestas was planning on making an API that would allow an app to be built over Christmas but his work ended up keeping him from that and will for quite some time. And since I'm not a registered code reviewer on the github project and ATC is...

Re: The mass exodus

<snip> Speaking of technology, how did this affect us: https://blog.hootsuite.com/9-tips-to-creating-a-mobile-friendly-website/ I know I've been talking about app development for many years now (and not actually doing it) but phone friendly Web-interface would be pretty awesome too. The forum is wh...

Re: The mass exodus

The other important thing to keep in mind when you are considering the number of games played on a diplomacy site is that the decision was made on this site to add developmental functionality to allow it to be open source with a fully developed locales translation system in place to make it easy for...

Re: The mass exodus

It is worth noting that Conspiracy has gone from nothing to 460,000 registered players who have completed 106,000 games of full press classic diplomacy in recent years. That's more games of full press classic diplomacy than we've had games of anything in our entire existence. We have long since lef...

Re: The mass exodus

I find this thread pretty interesting. Because it's pretty focused on the idea of the decline site being tied to the forum and to a couple colorful individuals being banned and the reduced number of live games. When you actually start looking at the data it gets more interesting. The average life of...

Re: Site Development

To provide an update, there is currently no dev work being approved at this time. Both people with access to the git repository are awol so we are being forced to push critical changes like linking to the new tournament site live un-linked from git. Hopefully at some point in the future that will ch...

Re: Multiculturalism Ruins Nations

@nefs, statistically the group most likely to commit violent crimes are men. Maybe your community just has more men. I’d advise banning men be proposed at your city town hall.

Re: Logging In From Forum Appears To Be Broken

Click on your new forum settings, Board Preferences, you'll see the section called: "Hide my online status: Changing this setting won’t become effective until your next visit to the board." Set that to yes and you shouldn't need to view it offline anymore. 3.2.1 is our version embedding images is in...

Re: Online Diplomacy Championships 2019

@Durga, as promised, the automated pulls of data. 16 people fail the enterance criteria, I know you were reviewing case by case for them. Anyone who was too new to have a GR was given one of 100 since that's the starting GR anyway. Rubanovish game count: 0 RR: 1 Peak GR: 100 Passes Criteria: No wola...

Re: Logging In From Forum Appears To Be Broken

This is how phpbb forums work via site integration. You can either force everyone to make a new forum account or you have that handled automatically by the site which means the site "makes" you a 2nd phpbb account with all the database columns it needs to work with phpbb functionality without impact...

Re: Logging In From Forum Appears To Be Broken

Like bo said, direct login to the forum is intentionally disabled. It's a phpbb bug that it does not tell you that and instead gives you a login page.

Re: Karma

Red signifies admins for the phpbb forum board. Myself, bo_sox48, zultar, and Kestas are the only people who admin the forum board. What that means is we can setup new forum sections, themes, emoji's and other normally ignored things. The Dev icons are the only site representation for developers. (e...

Re: what ever happened about the thing that guy did

I have explained to you in absurd amounts of detail as to why the file could not be hidden. You continue to intentionally misrepresent everything you're told in the dozens of discussions you've had with TD's, mods, devs, and owners. At this point I'm getting concerned about your mental well being an...

Re: Official start of the Nexus Diplomacy Tournament

Due to the size of this tournament and because we'd love to see people participate, anyone making the final board will receive 500 :points: as a prize. If you then finish in the top 3 you'll get an additional 1,000, 750, or 500 :points: for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd respectively as well as a banner for your...

Re: Why Players Prefer Draw-Size Scoring

Playing for a draw from the start is dumb in this system because it's the same as just declaring the game over immediately, but playing for a draw can become important during the game if the alternative is something worse. I agree with you on drawing. I think playing for the draw from the start is ...
