No, Major is right. I apologise for my use of the c- word. I should have chosen a less gendered profanity. I don't apologise for anything else said in this thread though.
Really? You've used that word countless times before. Turning over a new leaf?

Re: Fascism is not going far enough

And you Jamiet99uk have used an offensively sexist word. I get your passion, but when you respond at that level in my opinion, you do your own position damage. Language is a funny old thing. Words can come with baggage, but that baggage varies enormously from place to place. The word cunt in Scotla...

Re: Trade War _good_

Hunch? It's common sense, surely? People make similar mistakes in their speech every day, and you make a mental correction and move on. Traditionally American politicians, indeed most politicians, train themselves to be more precise in how they speak. Trump is not a traditional politician. In terms ...

Re: Trade War _good_

The Korean War has yet to officially end. And tomatoes are a fruit and a peanut isn't a nut. Sometimes the truth is unhelpful. In a very real sense the war ended a long time ago. It is odd how politics deals with war, though. Most of the time politicians go out of their way to pretend that somethin...

Re: Trade War _good_

Unfortunately, all facts can be twisted to have a political bias. Especially so-called facts relating to politics. Do you believe it is a fact that there are thousands and thousands of people alive in the USA today whose children were killed fighting in the Korean war? Yes, or no? Either it is a fa...

Re: God is dead

@ Ogion To quote from your article: religion is growing so fast that nones’ share of the global population will actually shrink in 25 years as the world turns into what one researcher has described as “the secularizing West and the rapidly growing rest." Now I will agree completely that those who cl...

Re: Trade War _good_

The president of the USA tells clear lies, and you have no problem with that? That particular lie? None whatsoever as it seems far more likely to be a stumble over words than an attempt to deceive. Other lies, yes I do have a problem. But no more so than the lies Obama told (how many times did he s...

Re: Trade War _good_

Everybody lies. Quite how someone can claim to be a diplomacy player and fail to understand this basic fact is beyond me. Yeah but the lies he tells are so *pointless* and so easily exposed. Like, in this case, he claimed that "thousands" of parents of US soldiers killed in the Korean war had writt...

Re: Trade War _good_

Everybody lies. Quite how someone can claim to be a diplomacy player and fail to understand this basic fact is beyond me. Regarding North Korea, the time is right. The World needs a poster boy for denuclearization to prove that it's possible, and North Korea needs pretty much everything. Trump is an...

Re: God is dead

@ Ogion It's one of those common knowledge things. I'm sure there's plenty of stuff out there if you Google it. I honestly have no idea how common atheism was in various historic periods. Naturally when saying you're an atheist meant a painful death people weren't particularly inclined to declare it...

Re: God is dead

There are more religious people alive today than at any time in history, and they are making up an increasingly large percentage of the global population.

Atheism is dying. God's never had it so good.

Re: Seeking Migrants.. Australia welcomes you

I believe so. Australia's immigration policy seems primarily geared to exploiting the education systems of poorer nations who can ill afford to lose their highly educated citizens.

Out of curiosity, would that have escaped punishment in the lightly moderated politics forum, or would it have earned a silence there too?

You could get away with 6 players and no Italy. If you were down to five I'd go down the ancient med route. It's easy enough to print off a map to keep as a standby option.

Re: UK Government Arrests Journalist for Reporting on Court Case

@ majormitch The problem with that attitude is that a great number, if not all, professions come with a culture and an accepted way of doing things that can be inefficient, damaging or dangerous. Through formal training that culture is passed on from one generation to the next, and it is often only ...

I don’t really understand the appeal of watches. Watch lovers - why do you love watches? What am I missing? I have three watches. The Casio F-91W, which was the first watch I ever bought. A Rotary which was a gift from my late grandfather. A Citizen ecodrive which was a birthday gift from Mrs Oct. ...

Good wine— Life is too short to waste drinking wine when cider exists Good beer — If no cider is available, Arbor Ales are damned hard to beat. Nice watches —Casio F-91W Bucket list vacations --- Pah. Pick places you like, put them in a Pringles tin, and let fate decide. It's more about who you trav...
