Re: Brexit solved

They could come back with a clear 'no, you need a clear reason for an extension, ask again with a referendum or GE promise...'

They have said no more extensions without 'good reason' so...

Re: Brexit solved

Two letters (and a cover letter)! I kinda guessed this was where he was going. The EU to decide how long an extention. I've heard on person suggest 11+ years... (which would result in revoking article 50 followed be restarting it, to reset to a 2 year delay...). So perhaps a couple of weeks delay to...

Re: Brexit solved

Have the ERG given up on the DUP? I did hear the economist were claiming this deal would lead to a 6.4% drop in growth, vs only a 4.9% drop from May's previous deal... (but I can't read the whole article: https://www.economist.com/britain/2019/10/17/boris-johnson-will-struggle-to-sell-his-last-gasp-...

Next step. DUP asks for more money or Brexit no deal agreed. Regardless of what happens today in Brussels.

Re: China, the NBA, Hearthstone, and South Park

The customer decides not to see your film, (so you self-censor?) is in the same ballpark as the Chinese govt decides not to import your film (they are effectively your customer)... The fact that China is still a communist state in many ways means from their perspective the State is one big consumer,...

Re: China, the NBA, Hearthstone, and South Park

I'm certainly not worried. There's a world of difference between a customer influencing the product by saying what they are and are not prepared to pay for, and a product being banned. Anyone can make pro-Trump lolly pops, but no one has a right to expect to sell any at a Democrat rally. So 'freedo...

Re: China, the NBA, Hearthstone, and South Park

Alas, the storm has caused the England France game to be cancelled (and New Zealand Italy, which is a shame for the Italians but has no impact on anything beyond that). Hoping that group A isn't decided by the weather.... Remind me, Ora, when it was that Holywood didn't tailor its films to the sens...

Re: China, the NBA, Hearthstone, and South Park

I might also point out that for at least a decade China has been seen as a lucrative market for big Holywood blockbusters, but they only allow a limited number of foreign films in each year, so they tend to reject anything which has a critical view of China. As a result a certain amount of self-cens...

Wow, extracting organs from humans is not a big deal, but threatening to withhold money/access to the Chinese Market gives them power?

Re: Ashamed of My Country

@Octavious, the Syrian Kurd's position may be better, but that is precisely why Turkey is attacking them. They fear a Kurdish neighbour controlling the border, able to supply weapons, material support, or somewhere to hide Kurdish peoples party members in Turkey. They would be happier with Islamic S...

Re: China, the NBA, Hearthstone, and South Park

Meanwhile 100s have died in protests in Iraq, continued violence in Hong Kong, Irish and British see a rise in violence over the British border in Ireland and failure of the Johnson govt to try negotiating a Brexit deal. OECD has recommended a new tax global regime which should force taxes to be pai...

Re: China, the NBA, Hearthstone, and South Park

The two fears for Northern Syria are genocide being committed against the Kurds (while Turkey then relocates Syria refugees to the land they have freed up) and the freeing of thousands of ISIS fighters currently held by the kurds in make-shift prison camps. (Kurds are currently blaming European coun...

Re: Great and unmatched wisdom

There are other things going on in the world, and the distraction of Trump and Brexit is explicitly there to provide distraction.

Turks seem poised to commit genocide against the Kurds in Northern Syria... We will see how they propogandise this.

Mueller explicitly said he was of the opinion that the Don could not indict a sitting president (and that impeachment was the constitutional way to address such crimes).

Swift: save the Irish from poverty by having poor women sell the one thing they are known for producing many of, babies, as a delicacy, to the rich.

Great satire.
