Re: Development Feedback

@bo_sox48, Basically yea. For examples, let's say I'm playing a live game and there's 1 minute left on the timer and I can tell France hasn't entered any orders, so I go ahead and use my extension to give France more time to get the orders in. France comes back in time and sees a message from me say...

Re: Development Feedback

So this is in the same vein as the recent Emergency Pause feature added, but would address the more day-to-day issues and hopefully prevent the need for pauses in most circumstances: Allow each player in a game to have a single 'Extend Phase Length' option. This would add to the current phase time o...

Re: SkyCon1

Ah, it let me plug in the code on the site and showed all units sold out, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if the discounts enough to swing it. Would definitely like to see what all the F2F hype is about!

Re: SkyCon1

I have to admit, I was tempted by this enough to check lodging rates, but between that being a bad time to take off from work, and being about a $1100 trip in lodging and airfare, I think I'll have to pass on the inaugural and hope for a SkyCon2.

Re: Reliability Ratings with teeth

Yeah I second Scrutinizer's sentiment. I've been on this site for over a decade and while it was a great site back when I joined it's only improved since then. The people running this place know what they're doing

Re: WDC 2020 - 11/6-11/8

So is this November 2019 or November 2020?

Just confused by the timing along with "WDC 2020" in the header. Are Diplo tournaments like car model years?

Re: Welcome to Feedback and Bug Reports!

It seems like it may not be that difficult to code (in terms of the logic, I'm not speaking to the actual code running the site). The main issue I see is that it would probably require a fairly significant change to whatever code generates the order boxes for a player. This would require that instea...

Re: Reliability Ratings with teeth

I mean the reliability rating minimum on new games does this, but new players do start with a reliability rating of 100%. It seems like the only options to address this would be adding an option to also require a minimum number of games completed in addition to the minimum RR rating, or assigning an...

Re: Artificial intelligence in 1v1 diplomacy

I do so enjoy a game of, "You don't know what you're talking about! No, YOU don't know what you're talking about!" In the interest of advancing this discussion, here is the wikipedia page for Nash Equilibrium:

Re: Artificial intelligence in 1v1 diplomacy

@BobMcBob, I would think that the task of teaching the AI how to Gunboat would be quite a bit simpler than teaching it how to play full press. Setting aside the need to pass the Turing Test to really be able to play full press, even just doing something like what Albert does wouldn't be quite a step...

Position isn't great but isn't terrible.

I took over a CD'd Russia in Spring 1901. Looking for a kindred spirit.

Re: Multiculturalism Ruins Nations

@ Fluminator I think I'm fairly close to a 'progressive' so I'll go ahead an weigh in in some of the other topics this conversation has touched on (the multicultural question is a little big for me to tackle at the moment though). I think Flum is essentially correct about liberal activism in the Uni...

I'm more inclined to Octavious' response than yours Claesar. Why would this be meta-gaming and not just normal diplomacy behavior/communication?
