Re: Announcing the 2021 WebDip World Cup!

@Mods - we're having trouble registering two players, myself and kaner406 for the Democracy Sausages team. As you'd know we have been highlighting webDip's bot play on the podcast and in one game left it (due to a win), not expecting that we'd technically CD against the bots and have it held agains...

I think there is a slight error on the Winter 1901 page.
Thanks, fixed it, and added colors.

Re: Development Update - Ghost Ratings and Profiles

Okay I think I understand now. The issue here is that the GR categories have been in existence for decades now. I did not determine what goes in each category, or how they are made (trust me, I would have done things differently if setting up a brand new ranking system). So we can't just change the ...

Re: Development Update - Ghost Ratings and Profiles

Regarding naming of the categories, we opted to stick with the shorter names rather than have the category names be whole sentences explaining exactly what goes in a category and why. We do have a page that explains exactly what goes in each category, which you can access in the menu under Ghost Rat...

Re: Development Update - Ghost Ratings and Profiles

GR categories is coming on its own page with more details and more comprehensive charts. The profile page is just a high level look at things since there is already a lot on that page. KW901 is not included. PPSC is included. Gotcha! Does PPSC have a weight-modifier? I also just noticed that the ne...

Re: Development Update - Ghost Ratings and Profiles

Also, should have mentioned this in the OP. Looking for feedback on the new profile page. The goal is an easy to understand page for new and experienced players alike. So if something comes off as too complicated or not initiative, let us know. I think for the most part it's really good! Profile co...

Re: Development Update - Ghost Ratings and Profiles

Oh, you know what would be really cool? A GR-tab im every game. When I click on it, it lists the GR of every participant. It also shows the number of :points: I need to win for GR parity! I would quite like this and a breakdown of GR changes post game would be nice too if we can talk stretch reques...

This is possible, but Im not sure I like the idea of giving people a point value to "settle for" ya know?

Re: All Diplomacy Scoring Stinks

No, the expected score is a mean. It represent the percentage of games you would expect to win if a series of games are played. A prediction is a statement about the outcome in one single game. They're related, but they're not the same. You can have an expected score of .57. It mean that you should...

Re: All Diplomacy Scoring Stinks

When calculating an elo rating, you literally calculate an expected score and compare the actual outcome to that expectation, then adjust ratings based on that comparison. So yes, the point of an elo rating is to attempt to predict the outcome. By taking the difference in rating between two players,...

Re: how tf am i suppose to join games?

It doesn't seem right that someone should start with less than 100% reliability since they haven't missed any turns. How are they supposed to join any games if they start with a low RR and don't want to play against bots? A lot of us don't want to play against bots. I never had to play against bots...

Re: Announcing the 2020 Masters Tournament

After subbing in for Italy and playing alongside everything that was happening, I'm not sure exactly what happened there. On the one hand, it was no secret that Austria and Russia did not get along, and I would not be surprised if Austrias mistake was not a mistake at all. On the other hand, Austria...

Re: Activity of Eliminated Players

I am currently spectating a game where one of the players who was previously reduced to controlling zero supply centers was making comments in the global chat with the seeming intent of influencing the remaining players. It got me wondering, is this something that would be accepted or frowned upon?...

Due to a desire to have better data surrounding bot play, we do not allow you to concede in classic bot games. You must play until you are eliminated

Re: Bots

They actually have no idea who the bots are and who the humans are from a code perspective. Bots are just good at reading the board and support orders. Make sure you enter supports, as it is the only way the bots communicate with you and each other.

No. You cannot use the bot game country selection to game the system if that is what you are getting at.

Re: How's 2020 going?

Quite genuinely it's been a great year. Fantastic weather, had a splurge of theatre trips in the first 3 months that felt ridiculously OTT at the time but turns out to have been timed beautifully, had 10 weeks of minimal work on full pay full of long walks in the sunshine and drinking beer in the g...
