Re: May GhostRatings Published

@Yonni, take a closer look to the idea above - weighing powers! On GvI it is very predictable: G wins, the winner takes fewer points, the loser loses the same fewer points; I wins, the winners takes more points, the loser the same loses more points. Next step, apply it to all maps (I wonder an itali...

Re: Spring 2018 Champions League

I'm in, I need to equilibrate my rankings. I disagree with you MM, the really good player is good at any 1v1 map. Specialists are not -necessarily- good players. Became a specialist myself, GR2 #7 in FvA, but almost last position in GvI! I know I'm just an average player and something is wrong in on...

Re: March GR2 Published

Yonni, the 1v1 players would like to see a GR2 1v1 ranking...

There's no need to give 1v1 games any weighing to the general ranking; just a separate ranking for the 1v1 games, applying GR2 methodology!

(Sorry if it already happens i've been very disconnected for a while)

Re: Repercussions for quitting

@Octavious, from personal experience I say this. When I joined webdip, not much long ago, I used to take over lots of hopeless positions, in some I fought hard to find a place in a draw, in most I was simply eliminated or survived to a solo. When I figured out there was a GR and it could be used to ...

Re: Repercussions for quitting

never late to start a log of CDs. That seems quite easy to implement! Isnt it? and then it could be incorporated into the ratings, be it with pro-rated strenghts by phases played, expected values, and points won from the game; note it would also solve the problem of the guy that helps, the guy who e...

Re: Ghost Rating V2

I also don't want to do the math, ChippeRock, but it can be put as simple as this example: (Game 1) VI calls some village idiots to play a game, and he settles his way to an easy two way draw with his favourite cousin. (Game 2) VI plays hard to find his place in a four way draw agasint six other hig...

Re: (bi)annual WebDip Gunboat tournament?

I understand if all games are set as "noreveal". In the other hand, it is a nice thing to watch out the table of players standings evolve! Back in the late nineties, we started a series of big no-press tourneys within the Vermont Group (passed to the Dipsters group from 2007 onwards and I've lost tr...

Re: (bi)annual WebDip Gunboat tournament?

*noreveal" - it is a game setting option available in Ken Lowe Judge system (later, the "Njudge system"). It hides the player names for anonymous games until the game master discloses it. It can certainly be adapted for Webdip (then a moderator would have the power to disclose the player names, perh...

Re: (bi)annual WebDip Gunboat tournament?

@Ghug, it can be handmade, and I believe it is easier with at least 43 players (6*7+1, you play 7 boards against 6 different players): Once you know the number of confirmed players, fill the square matrix first (number of players x number of games; np=ng), with AEFGIRT values, each row and each colu...

Re: The Nerd King

In the eighties, before AD&D's PH and MM were available as a rare imported books down here, I made my own D&D rules (with d6's only) and monsters (as seen on the tv series) from scratch and played it all alone, being myself the GM while controling a set of characters through a labyrinth...

Re: Could there be another map?

There's an expansion of Modern map, with Iran, though more extended to Africa rather than to Asia - Post-Modern Europe @President, indeed, the original message asks for a map of post-modern Asia, designed under the same guidelines of the Modern variant that we all know. In this sense, there is only ...
