Re: How Do We Feel About Not Even Trying to Win?

I think that's such a wrong statement. The draw is what you must aspire to when it's clear you can't win after the game has been going on for a while. Starting a game with the assumption "I can't possibly win, I'll just try to draw" is not only wrong but also sad. It also means you’re not likely to...

Re: How Do We Feel About Not Even Trying to Win?

The second one is, and I quote: "Players must enter a game aiming to get the best possible result from the game". And saying that for a person the best possible result could be a draw is just semantics. The best possible result is winning a game. Drawing is second best. Ιf a player is not a strong ...

Re: How Do We Feel About Not Even Trying to Win?

I will admit to turning down a solo once. I didn’t do it because I swore to an ally that I wouldn’t turn on them or something like that. Rather I was in a game with some new players, and one of them annoyed one of the more experienced players with their moves to the point where the experienced playe...

Re: Non-aggression pact

Well with the stipulation that "context is king" ... But if I had someone make a non-aggression pact with me and then support hold vs me I would be pretty ticked off. While you are not directly attacking me you are helping an enemy of mine, which is what I would consider a hostile act and I'd consid...

Re: A rant about Reliability Rating

I too have a thing called “a life.” In it I work a job, I’m also self employed, I take time with family, I clean the house, I (try to) exercise regularly, I play 4 games of Dungeons and Dragons, I hangout with friends (digitally now), I...ya know live. I also take the time to make sure I don’t miss ...

Re: The Perverse Fantasy of Heroic Killing

Well that was a good read. I’ve thought a lot about killing in media and the different sides of the argument I’ve seen, but I’ve rarely thought about it regarding media and the culture as whole. (I’ve mostly thought about this regarding specifics folks and how they’ve talked about things. I guess yo...

Re: How to Austria?

If my experience (and from what I’ve read the experience of others) an Italy that attacks Austria early and without a plan often ends up feeding Turkey and Russia. Basically it’s M.A.D. - Mutually Assured Destruction. Making sure that Italy knows the risks of attacking you [Austria] is part of the A...

Re: What are you reading?

I’m currently re-reading “The Wheel of Time.” An old fashioned fantasy with a nice helping of “epic” put in.

I have a large stack of books to work through, but besides “Permanent Record” (Edward Snowden’s book) I don’t remember what else I have xD

Re: New Member - Stupid Questions

Can't really answer the 1st question. Question 2: We start at 100 when we come in, since we have yet to miss a turn. Here's a more detailed answer taken from the "What is Reliability" thing they have under our profiles ^.^ "Reliability is how consistently you avoid interrupting games. Any un-excused...

Changing names?

At the moment I seem unable to change my registered account name. I was wondering 1) if this was something I'm just blindly missing or 2) if it's a feature that has yet to be added and I should voice my support behind this feature? IDK about other folks, but I do know that when I first was setting u...

Re: disrupt a convoy

I'm pretty sure that England's convoy would go through. To stop a convoy you either need to bounce them from their intended destination OR if France could dislodge England's Fleet entirely.

Don't think the OP really knows what being "shy" is or isn't.
Then again...since he's trolling who knows
