Re: NMRs

NMR's are part and parcel of the game - even though they are unwanted. Ideally, everyone would commit to each game that they sign up to and then stick with it, even when it goes bad against them. But since when did we live in an ideal world? There are lots of causes of NMRs - most of which are not a...

Re: Difference between Draw/Cancel

First of all, welcome to the site (and to this marvellous game). At the risk of sounding condescening - which isn't my intention - vote Draw means the game ends as a draw, vote Cancel and the game is cancelled. Exactly how the points are divided in the eveny of a draw will depend on the scoring syst...

Re: Votes

A while back, I did suggest a variation whereby a MAJORITY vote could secure a draw - and exclude certain parties from a share of the points - but only the player with the highest SC count could propose it. Coding it would probably be a nightmare but it would bring on-line play 'in line' with F2F an...

I'd refer you all to the article in Diplomacy World #142 that touched on this very issue.

Re: The mass exodus

I don't believe that there would be any issue with regards Hasbro - there have been cash prizes or ther equivalent in tournaments before. Thier concern would be intellectual property rights - which they would already have acted upon if that was an issue for them. Personally, I think Peterwiggin's co...

Re: How to approach potential S01 NMR?

NMR means No Moves Received.

Having said that, some players do intentionally leave their orders to the last moment.

At the point that the thread started there had been no NMR.

I'd be interested to know if orders got entered or not?

Re: What are "Notes" for?

So far as I'm aware, you can only see your own notes.

I'm not sure but I suspect that notes exists to make the coding simpler .

I have used it in to record my DMZs/agreement deadlines - but I don't tend to use it now.

Re: World Cup

Saturday's game is a dead rubber - just like last week's Group match. Expect England to put out a fully changed 11. If Belgium want to play their full strength side then let them. Sunday's final could honestly go either way - and should be all the more interesting for it. I think that France are sli...

I'm getting the same issue. Is there a fix or will it just clear?

At the moment I can't access a current game either from my dashboard or the My Games tab.

Posts from Exile should be positively encouraged.

Anything that improves the quantity and hopefully quality of in-game communication has to be a good thing (unless it's Gunboat!).

Re: RR and it’s actual effects

Other sites use rankings to denote experience - for us it's DipPoints. Setting up a game just by differentiating RR is naïve- for just the reasons that ssorenn says. So to create the 'quality game' that ssorenn demands means setting both a high points tariff AND a high RR threshold. Of course, RR wi...

Re: Irony: UK hosts conference aimed at encouraging other countries to join EU

As a Remainer/Remoaner, I wouldn't say that we are being ignored. What rankles (for me) is the suggestion, continually pushed by Brexiteers, that they won and we lost. There was a vote - publically announced as non-binding and advisory - that came down (very) narrowly in favour of one view. Of cours...

http://www.diplomacyworld.net/pdf/dw141.pdf

Highlights include a decent little strategy article from our own Enriador as well as a larger piece about the Diplomacy Podcast in which WebDip is prominent.

And of course, there's the Demo game in which Durga is playing a blinder.

Enjoy!
