Re: Make sure you bounce in the Black Sea!
I agree with A Smy H if you haven’t a good feeling about Austria. I don’t see any reason to move to Syr in the spring. If you have a strong feeling about Austria, A Smy-Arm works. It’s a strong signal that no RT is in the works which opens up diplomatic opportunities with everyone else but Russia. I...

Re: New Rule Regarding Game Press
I would like to think that an objective viewpoint is an implicit factor in why the moderators are actually useful. Plus, it has been made fairly clear that "harmless innuendo" is not really what we are worried about when applying this rule. All that said, I see your point, particularly where you ad...

Re: New Rule Regarding Game Press
I would amend it to read something like as follows: "Messages of a sexually explicit nature from an objective viewpoint." That will keep people from subjectively reacting from harmless innuendo, potentially using it to gain advantages in a game. Such behavior, while almost as reprehensible as actual...

"Messages of sexual nature"
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
That needs to be tightened up and you need an objective standard.

Re: New Rule Regarding Game Press
as i have yet to ever hear about doxxing, and never run across it before, maybe i dont know what it is but yes, this place is a PC shithole I apologise for restricting your freedoms to sexually and racially harass others. The policy as drafted is a too vague about what objective conduct is disallow...

Re: Rewards for Face to Face Tournament Winners
Not trying to argue with the criteria because many FTF events don't use the top board formula for determining the champion. You picked the simplest and clearest way to award points for ftf tournaments in general. However, in the case of the last two US WDC events, which were huge ftf tournaments, ma...

Re: 2018 World Diplomacy Championships - Washington DC
Balki, that’s exactly the comparison I was curious about. Thank you for chipping in with your viewpoint. I think most of us FTF players have the board memorized so it’s easier to jump right into negotiations. I get the feeling most online players, like I did when I started enjoying the FTF variant, ...

Re: 2018 World Diplomacy Championships - Washington DC
Thank you both for your analysis. Balki, I would like to hear of your impressions of the FTF game as compared to online play. I heard this was your first tournament, but you did amazingly well adapting to the terrain of FTF. In fact, it would be great if everyone would chip in about the differences ...

Re: 2018 World Diplomacy Championships - Washington DC
I enjoyed meeting everyone. Got to play in games with Bo and YoYo. My daughter went out drinking with some on here Thursday, which caused a lot of damage in general. I went to bed at 11 in lieu of the afterparty. Game with Bo. I was Italy. He was Russia. We allied with Turkey. I took Trieste in Fall...

Re: webDiplomacy on the Phone
I've had problem with save on the phone. Seems like it saved, but it didn't save. I usually use the PC interface. I attribute it to carelessness, but it still happens often enough to make it a good excuse.

Run through the exercises http://uk.diplom.org/pouch/Zine/W1995A/Tactics/ and you'll be a better tactician. If you master these tactics, you'll be better than about 2/3 of this site.
