Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

I like the idea of fastest victory but that's true that it makes much less sense when comparing French victories... There is also the issue of draw-draw. What about : 1. In case of A/A : the fastest victory gets the global victory 2. In case of d/d, F/F or a tied A/A : we start a new game and A gets...

Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

http://webdiplomacy.net/contrib/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=223 Thank you. I had already read this some time ago. Any modification to suggest with 2018 Champions League ? My personnal view is that instead of playing a 3rd game in case of 1-1 we should add the centers that are controlled... Advantag...

Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

I don't intend to participate.
I'd be happy to organise it if mods agree.

Re: Alternative Solobot Challenge

Anyone interested in a parallel, opposite challenge? Whoever manages for the bot to end the game with the maximum number of centres, any variant allowed. 1. Austria - 26 centres (FvA) LOL... Not easy at all to manage the way the bot can win. In 1v1 I think it should be possible to achieve 35...

Solobot challenge

Hello,

I launch a new challenge:
making a solo against the bots but in finishing with a
maximum of centers...

We can start with this... Who can make better ?
1. Germany - 29 centers

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

I wanted to clarify that neither version of the bots is passive. Yeah. I have seen Mittag "suprized" by a bot when he was in Mao and Bre was free... He played Mao > Bre and the f**** bot played Eng > Mao. Who taught that to the bots ?! On the other way, next turn, the bot diggued its grave in Por w...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

Another trial but in playing A instead of F. I wanted to test the capability of the bot to counter an attempt of Austrian to "rush" in '04. This "rush" is very risky when the adversary knows and realizes that you are trying it because this can only work if he makes some mistakes. The bot didn't and ...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

I have made a second test. I guess that Philip taught the bot there was a stalemate to hold above all [shaa]. I guess also that it was taught to try the "rush" strategy (?). That was an interesting game by the way to learn about the way the bot plays. Here are my comments regarding bot's moves : * A...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

On the chance anyone noticed, we had the bots offline for about 10 minutes, Philip was making some adjustments. The adjustments will ideally help out end game play a little bit in keeping powers from being "stuck" in all holds for to long, and will prevent a bot from trying to retreat 2 powers to t...

Re: AI bots on webDiplomacy: Skynet edition!

Once again I DO insist :
Thank you very much for introducing bot's on Webdip!

There will be a next step in future to improve the IA's skills ( I have read and understood that we can NOT improve this at short term ) but in 1v1 the bot really made numerous errors:

Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns

I think it would be more fair to compare what year the game ended, than the number of centers at the end of the game. Either way, it doesn't really fix the problem, as ties are still possible. The risk of tie is higher but I agree with you it is more efficient and much harder to trick. We could hav...

Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns

Would we see a German play to 1920 in an attempt to literally eliminate Italy, to insure the German’s performance as Italy would be better? How much would play be stifled by not wanting to risk a 1920 elimination? I don't think it is easily feasible, if feasible because: - the game still stops when...

Re: Announcing the 2018 GvI and FvA Showdowns

1v1 - new rule proposal in case of tie Most players are conviced that : - in FvA : A is a little bit stronger than F - in GvI : G is quite stronger than I. That's an issue because in case of tie, the player who get A (resp. G) is advantaged. I suggest the following new principle in case of tie. ---...
