Re: School of War Summer 2019

This was such a delight to see unfold. Without further ado, let’s dive in!! An Idiots Review of 1906 England Not a bad year. I like how you were able to advance some fleets and keep France on his heels as you were able to help Germany pick chip away at him and force a destroy. Russia being forced to...

Re: School of War Summer 2019

Great question. I’ve often said I love playing ”really good” players because they tend to be the most predictable. New players are unintentionally unpredictable because they don’t know what they’re doing and exceptional players just know it pays to draw outside the lines, but “good” players will jus...

I've mentioned in the previous lectures that sometimes when a center is obviously defended, it ends up not being necessary to defend it because everyone assumes you will.
File away in your playbooks, this is the sort of game style that separates the good from the great.

Re: 1st Game Played - Reflections and Questions

Personally, i'd suggest not to bring up the newbie status as it does have potential to invite players to attempt to take advantage of inexperience. I'd just keep it vague. I'm sure it'll be obvious your not a vet but no need to underline just how green you are. Some alliances are easier to work then...

Re: School of War Summer 2019

Perhaps the professors are avoiding addressing this directly, but I am very curious to hear which factors they believe "the rest" of the players should consider when determining whether a coalition is necessary against a "big alliance," or even just one big player. Fantastic question! There’s many ...

Re: School of War Summer 2019

Russia I can only speculate on which of these moves were planned and which were betrayals. Do you think we can learn anything from Trieste retreating to Serbia rather than Albania? Can this still be a smokescreen? Serbia is a fairly understandable move. Albania is unnecessary if it's an ongoing Jug...

Re: August Ghost Ratings Published

"DSS/SoS, Classic Map, Full Press, Non-Live" is WAY too wordy. After having owned the top of this category for majority of going on five years, it's time to just rename it as VI Diplomacy.

What do we think?

Some fun stuff enjoy about this round, so let’s dive in!
England The Portugal to MAO move was super clever and probably what I would have done in that situation. Shame it didn’t work out but getting MAO is still a solid consolation prize. St.Petersburg is also a terrific feather in your cap and rel...

An Idiots Review of Spring 1905 Now that we've had an opportunity to reflect on who we are in the mid-game and where we'd like to go, let's see how it's going. England England i've really got some mixed feelings on. You are probably the boldest person on the board. From my experience this can yield...

Re: ODC 2019 Tournament Start

Once the dust settles on players bowing out, do we get to know who the final list of semi-finalists will be? Just for the fun of knowing who's in the race. Would also be cool to know the breakdown of where the semi-finalists come from (in terms of site and FTF). I like me some back story intrigue! ...

Re: School of War Summer 2019

Congratulations for those of you still alive, you've made it to the MIDGAME!! You're likable and/or savvy enough to not be the first person out. If you've done things right you should have built yourself some solid relationships all around the board which by now that is helping you to keep one step ...

You really couldn't ask for a better person to learn some of the subtitles of the game from. Some subtitles that have been used are "The Game of International Intrigue" and "The Award Winning game of Political Intrigue and Military Power in Imperial Europe", as you can see here: https://www.amazon....
