I play better when I play slow...
It’s settled then! 😉

I play better slow as well but as they say the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few

Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

Groups were round robin, right ? Why not have all the group matches happen at once ? For example, if my group has 4 players including me, I would theoretically play 6 1v1's all at once. The first round is six games at once, pretty crazy but it would often happen at least partly over Thanksgiving We...

Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

It used to be that we were supposed to play a minimum of two phases every day, though loosely enforced, but even only checking in once a day I’d finalize one set of orders (while my opponent had already finalized orders) and then I’d immediately finalize a second set of orders so my opponent could d...

Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

When in doubt, leave the tie-breaker as it was, then when comparing tournaments over time there is consistency.

Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

I agree with 90kic regarding sum of centers as the first tie-breaker causing atypical play, so I vote against that. I don’t mind a third game tie-breaker especially in AvF, but if a quicker tournament is a priority I like the idea of the first tie-breaker being the faster victory.

Re: Fall 2019 Champions League

I don't intend to participate. I'd be happy to organise it if mods agree. I think the tournament would be *much* better if you participated CptMike, so maybe think on that a bit... If you ultimately prefer to host, I’m sure many like myself would be very appreciative, and I think you need to read t...

Fall 2019 Champions League

Any rumors about this coming back to life any time soon? Pretty sure RJ wants a chance to defend his title...

Also, what if only the top 30 automatically qualify, and there are two spots granted to whoever... For example, maybe we could talk TheGhostmaker into playing...

Re: Moderator Team Announcement

This is an interesting situation, especially given the individuals involved... A ban for life does seem extreme, from the outside-looking-in, but as they say, ignorance is bliss... When I *completely* *lost* *my* * shit* during the last World Cup Finals, that situation seems to have been born from d...

@Madmarx I definitely don't mean to suggest you shouldn't offer feedback or that your suggestion was unreasonable. I just know I wouldn't like to hear suggestions I'm "com[ing] up with a viable story to distract from your true intentions" that might suggest you think there's some underhand agenda. ...

Re: Introducing the first ever webDiplomacy Terminator Tournament!

[Speaking as a former TD for multiple different formats, please make sure to be generous to volunteer TDs . It's often a thankless task; it's a lot of work to run a tournament; and everyone wants a slightly different set up. The least we can do is trust that the TD is making decisions in good faith...

Re: Introducing the first ever webDiplomacy Terminator Tournament!

MM, did you just cancel your round 2 games? Yes, I withdrew from the tournament. Mid way through the first round, before the site being down resulted in an extension of the first round by 48 hours, I sent a message asking if the finals could take place over the course of two full weekends, for peop...

Re: Introducing the first ever webDiplomacy Terminator Tournament!

Due to a slight structural change in the tournament bracket, there will be 22 players moving on to round 2. What “structural change” in the bracket was needed that then necessitated 22 advance rather than 20? Also, how many others at webDip moonlight for the Trump Administration? 🤔 There isn’t even...

Re: Introducing the first ever webDiplomacy Terminator Tournament!

A bracket?! I’m a big fan of brackets...

Very curious to find out what the “new” bracket looks like, and how it was changed/improved from the initial bracket, especially since I assumed the second round was the final round and simply involved everyone playing three games again...
