Re: Chaos Tournament

Did you know that new players on vDiplomacy can only play a maximum of two games simultaneously?

Re: Phase length applies even to obvious disbanding?

Unfortunately, webdip's adjudicator was not written with forced options in mind. The part of the code that determines what options you have is totally unrelated to the part of the code that moves turns forward. It knows about "no orders" and "some orders" - but extending it to know about "each orde...

Re: Fixing the World Diplomacy IX variant map.

I dunno... I like the names and colors for everything but it would be nice if the move or support move arrow colors changed based on the background... That is an interesting suggestion, but it is not something that I can program. I think that commentary and suggestions for the new map could best be...

Re: Fixing the World Diplomacy IX variant map.

Coincidentally, I am just working on a new World map on vDiplomacy. The initial reason behind making the map was because I wanted to make balance improvements, but your posts got me motivated to try out some color changes, too. What do you think of the new colors?

Re: New World Map

The map has bugged out at the moment, but it should be visible again soon.

EDIT: Well, the bug solved itself, apparently.

New World Map

Hello webdippers, I have enjoyed playing the variant World Diplomacy IX on this site, but while playing I couldn't help but think about possibilities how the variant could be improved. This lead me to take a crash course on variant creation over on vDiplomacy, after which I decided to start working ...

If England decides to move from London to Whales my plan fails
That is correct.

so I have a 50.50 for a successful invasion of mainland is that correct?
I would not call it a 50/50 guess, but yeah, it could fail depending on what England does.

Re: Seeking help. Movement issues

I'd like to add that there is no need to support hold the fleet in the English Channel, since the only unit that can attack your fleet in the English Channel is the English fleet in the North Sea, and there is no unit that can support that attack. Thus, you can afford to do something else with your ...

Re: Mentor Program

I am not involved in the mentor program, but I can tell you that the reason you didn't hear back isn't because of the countries you selected. Maybe there just aren't enough mentors available at the moment.

Well, at least according to wikipedia, in the Key Lepanto it is even standard for Italy to take Tunis in 1901.

This variant is the main line of the Key Lepanto and is not a new innovation.
Everywhere I ever read on the Key Lepanto, it said that in the Key Lepanto, Italy takes Serbia.

Maybe you want to edit wikipedia? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lepanto_o ... ey_Lepanto

Re: Key Lepanto variant

- You could help Austria defensively. If it looks like Russia can take Vienna or Budapest, you can send the army to Trieste and help from there. Austria may feel threatened by that of course, but if the situation is such that he needs you to defend his other home supply centers, then he has little ...

Re: Key Lepanto variant

Nice to see that you have tried this out in gunboat too! :D And nice that you achieved a 3-way draw with it. My experience does not lie in gunboat, but nonetheless, here are my thoughts: I think the biggest downside in gunboat compared to Full Press is that you can't communicate to Austria what you ...

Re: Sealion from Germany's Perspective: 1901

Looks good. My biggest worry would be that things will leak. For example, England could tell Russia in the spring of 1901 that he 'has intel' that he plans to do a northern opening and wants to change his mind. That may alert Russia that you are playing as a double agent, if you are the only one he ...

Re: Known World 901 ???

Known World 901 is playable on vdiplomacy.net. It is generally considered to be a (very) good variant, and hence the webDip staff decided to port the variant over to this site, too. Unfortunately the code on webDip allows for fewer rule changes than the code on vDip, which caused the special rule in...

Re: Cutting Support

Is it possible that I was just seeing glitches or something? No, you were not seeing glitches. 2ndWhiteLine just didn't tell the full story in his post, for in some instances, an attack does not cut a support. David E. Cohen is correct. The rule is as follows: If A orders a supported attack on B, t...

Re: Reliability Ratings

Mentioning vDiplomacy is really becoming a meme of mine. Here we go again. If you play at vDiplomacy and hover the mouse above your own reliability rating on your profile, you see the text: ''RR = ((noNMR + noCD)/2)^3" This means: "RR = 100 * ( ([# of phases played - # of NMRs]/[# of phases played] ...
