Trump may be personally profiting more than previous reports and overcharging the government more than legally allowed for staying at his resorts. But the president doesn't let himself be bound by laws. After all he employed illegal aliens, cheated on taxes, ran an unregistered charity, fake university, ….

This was upgraded from only being a civil offense to criminal back in the 1970s. Since Trump is conducting business as Commander in Chief with war planning and execution at his resorts, this moves from vacation expenses to being war related.

Who really knows because the Treasury Department has failed since Trump started for 3 years to give required information on expenses. Trump may be gouging the US while claiming we are still at war to pursue his Mid East agenda.
