Hi Jamiet,
I am a law student in the U.S. I don't meet all of your requirements but I am more than happy to help with your project. Let me know.

Hi Jamie,
I own an NL based company, with a branch in the US, working worldwide.
I have a legal department (1 person) and have 20 years of exeperience in doing business around the world. Not 100% fullfilling your requirements, so up to you if I could be of service.

OMG Eden, ha ha ha, I hadn't noticed my typo.

For the avoidance of doubt, it is a 100% genuine request.

I will be happy to share my findings here - although I would warn you that it will take some time.

What do you suppose the odds are that we'll get to read some of your findings at the end? I don't qualify for any of your requirements unfortunately, but this is an interesting topic and I'd like to see what our little community is capable of :)

Pardon my smug comment...
I would reply, Jamie, but I am an illegal scholar.

Looking for legal scholars in EU countries

Hello friends,

There are a lot of clever types on here, and I am looking for potential collaborators for a research project.

I am proposing to carry out a research project, looking into differences in access to commercial justice in different EU jurisdictions, specifically in the area of public procurement. EU public procurement law seeks to ensure that firms operating in any EU country have common rights to fair treatment when doing business with the public sector. However, some elements of the legal process are not subject to EU-wide regulation, and in my view this could lead to significant differences in practical access to remedies.

As one example, the EU leaves it up to Member States to set the court fees that must be paid to bring a claim. Court fees in England and Wales are vastly higher than the equivalent fees in some other EU states. This could represent a significant barrier to aggrieved firms seeking to bring claims. On the other hand, if court fees are set very low, this could encourage vexatious or nuisance claims from firms with little chance of success, seeking merely to vent their annoyance, which could clog up the court process and deny access to genuine claimants.

This is the kind of issue I'm interested in exploring.

I am looking to make contact with people who meet all of the following criteria:

- Resident in an EU state other than the UK.
- Working in the field of law, or with an academic interest in law (public or commercial law an advantage).
- Interested in participating in a research project looking into access to legal rights for firms trading in the EU.

Please feel free to PM me, or comment here if interested.

Regards,

Jamiet99uk

Before anyone makes any smug comments:

1. Yes, this is a 10% genuine request,
2. No, this is not the only place I'm asking.
