Maybe Dipbro Brainbomb could combine his desire to be mummified with smoking, and become a smoke dried jerky ?

Foolish brainbomb.

Do you not realise that you should die exactly when jmo112109 decides that you shall die? Not a moment sooner, nor a moment later. Jmo giveth life, and Jmo taketh it away.

Covince me that immortality wont cause overpopulation

In light of recent threads encouraging smoking being too controversial. Ive decided that eternal life for all humans is no big deal. Everyone should live forever and bleed the earth dry of its resources.

the thread doesnt say help me kill myself.

it says help me expedite my time on earth. I plan to die of smoking and become an astral being

Smoking kills, asking for encouragement to commit self harm is idiotic. I've added the hidden tag to drop this from the home preview.

If you actually have the desire to hurt yourself I'd strongly suggest getting help.
Jeez, Jay-Mo, lighten up. This thread is obvious satire. Brainbomb is making fun of the thread "Convince me to take up your hobby".

I chuckle just seeing that the guy doing his best cigarette lobbying campaign is named space cadet!

Is that a problem with the script correcting software ? ... when Pariah Council gets changed to Parish Council ?

..."to the detriment of the site"...

My presence here enhances the site enormously and I am wounded, I say wounded, sir, by your remarks. If this harassment continues I shall write a strongly-worded letter to the Parish Council.

Not that I wish to be telling the mods how to do their jobs, but it seems to me that Jamie has posted in a fashion that is clearly derogatory to the minority "lit" community, thus violating forum rule 2. He has also, by calling brainbomb "young", not only revealed personal information violating forum rule 3, but done so in such a way as to discriminate based on age. Finally, but my no means least, there's a clear violation of rule 9 that allows Jamie to be punished for posting as Jamie, reacting as Jamie, and generally being Jamie to the detriment of the site.

I recommend a week's silence, to be upgraded to a month if he complains, thus breaking forum rule 8 regarding the evasion of silences.

Okay, so in conclusion, in situations where Brainbomb is very enthusiastic, you would encourage him to smoke cigarettes. But otherwise you would not urge him to immolate his body. I'm glad we cleared that up.

I recommend not smoking... unless you are on fire.
I would also recommend not being on fire. You aren't encouraging young Brainbomb to start being on fire, are you? That would be against forum policy.
It would only be against forum policy if I TOLD, URGED, or PUSHED him to be on fire. :-) All I am doing here is placing guidelines around his 'smoking' desire.

PROBABLY (although I never truly know my own motivation) I was hoping that he would see that being 'on fire' is not a desirable situation... and therefore move away from the 'smoking' temptation.

On the other hand, "on fire" might refer to 'being enthusiastic' about something... which is an entirely different cat.

When we do retirement analyses at work for clients, we tell them that to reach their retirement goal without running out of money they either have to save more money each month or take up smoking.
I'm not sure the latter is even true, unless they're able to mooch all those sigarets. If they actually buy those sigarets, they'll run out of money even faster! You should tell them to take up passive smoking. Get the same effect, for free!

claims smoking isn't an addiction then compares it to basic life functions...
no, what i meant is that it is an addiction, but not all addictions are bad by definition.
it's not disruptive to the point of affecting your life like hard drugs.
but yeah, it is adding a basic function to your life.
one you don't really NEED, but aren't these functions the best part of life?
good food, good sex.. evolution dictated we derive pleasure from these things.
once you are addicted, your body dictates that you derive pleasure from relieving the tension of the addiction.

Seriously as someone who struggled like hell to quit tobacco, dont do that sh3$%%^#, and if you need some quit resources, Im glad to point the way. The only drug that is as chemically addictive is heroin, and at least that shit is a lot more fun (and likely cheaper on balance).

In terms of thrill-seeking/deathdefying, go with some eggs, bacon, cheese, and whiskey every day for breakfast. Or, again, the heroin. Or me playing Germany in boat.
