The game I was referring to earlier finished, and it was a success in some senses of the word.

I did surprisingly well this game, although I messed up a bit at the end. Still, I drew :) I think this was the first game I've ever been called a solo threat :D

Well done with Germany in that game Mercy. I looked it up & used archived maps.. what a scrambling messy game & France was a strong rival for a while.

Goldfinger, those are some really... long.... games..... Not sure how you managed to keep a dynamic game state for so long. Surely would've been thrilling to play though.
All you need is a few like-minded players who are all put in the same position. Which is "If I don't solo this game, I lose". If you start at that point, it's incredibly easy to have an engaging and dynamic game for...almost as long as you have the will to play.

My first Classic game was pretty exciting.

I think my most exciting finished game is probably this lovely chaos one. I survived far longer than I should have and felt like I had a fighting chance all the way through to the midgame.

Hey! I was Marseilles! Fun game :P
Yeah, I had... mixed feelings about our alliance. You were for the most part a good ally, but then you stabbed me (or misordered depending on who you talk to) a couple of times. Still sad I accidentally killed you though.

Hmmm.

I'd have to say one of these two. Afraid my best diplomacy days are well behind me.

This one slipped my mind at the time, from the Terminator Tournament.

One of the most thrilling games I've ever played, even though it was against bots. It took me 5 years to convoy to Syria. By the time I'd killed Turkey, Austria stabbed me and I spent 10 years kicking them out of Italy, delayed by a bakc and forth with the French. I eventually went on to win despite getting my second build in 1907. It was beautiful.

@BobMcBob, the chaos game was very interesting! I love the thrill of being on the ropes with a single unit or something similar, and yet remaining around. Also, I happen to spectate the other one :)

I have a few remarkable games myself... And it feels somewhat old to look at games you remember so well and realize they were played seven years ago.

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameI ... #gamePanel - this was a great lesson! Playing with players more skilled than I was, what seemed like a three-way strike on France in 1909 did not eliminate me, as I made it all the way to 1926. Having 5 SCs and units in Aegean, Trieste, Silesia, Berlin and North Atlantic, fighting a ten-year struggle against solo-hopeful Russia on all fronts was indeed very thrilling.

http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameI ... #gamePanel - This equally long game was very interesting as well. As an aside, I'm not sure if I'm more shocked by my bet on defending the Med solely by guessing, from Spring 1916 to Autumn 1917, or by the fact that it worked.

Though there are many others, this one was the most challenging I ever played: http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameI ... #gamePanel - though it had to be drawn earlier due to personal issues with one player, the level of skill of all other players (handpicked by myself for their superb press) made for a very, very balanced game. Understanding what was going on was a constant challenge, which I long to repeat.

I also have a rather thrilling (for me) Masters game at the moment, but I can't say which one. I'll post the link when it's over.
Then of course there's this one...

Let's see, off the cuff...

A couple of those FvA's or GvI's where I ALMOST beat CptMike
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=232299
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=233928 (this one I had a nearly won position and screwed it up :( :( :( )

The time I solo'd a pretty good gunboat board as AUSTRIA 8-) 8-) 8-)
http://webdiplomacy.net/board.php?gameID=232469 (and after giving up Trieste in 1901 to boot - in particular, being able to manipulate Germany into stabbing France at a time when it'd lead to my solo, solely through making suggestive moves was a lot of fun)
