Woodwind? That's crazy! (see what I did there?)
What do you mean? :)

Aww haha. I convince myself that my only fan is my possibly intoxicated mother in the comment sections of my videos, but it’s good to hear that I gave at least a little bit of an impact in people. And yes, EMC, I did post a similar thread of talents in general, I was more curious of the musical background specifically here, as I knew there was some from BB and others in the old poetry thread. If anyone’s curious, I have been working on some new stuff as I learn more complicated music theory (I’m a freshman in college pursuing a music performance major in trumpet, though I post mainly piano)
Here’s a recent piece I threw together last week

Ooh nice. Honestly, great kudos to you and everyone else in this thread (looking at Mr. Green here) who composes, having tried it it's a lot harder than people would expect, especially if you want to create something others would enjoy listening to :D

That being said, I don't envy at all how much time you must practice, haha
(especially as a performance major).

Do you happen to have any recent trumpet pieces you're willing to share, by any chance?
OH THE PRACTICE TIME IS BRUTAL. I’m expected 8-12 hours a week and towards the end of every semester we’re all bombarded in recitals and concerts. It’s funny you ask about recordings, because the main reason I haven't recorded trumpet is because it’s hard to record brass due to the high impact/volume.

HOWEVER

I just ordered a nice ribbon mic and an audio input with around $600 saved, and I’ll definitely be recording more on my flugel and trumpet with it. Besides that, I have a solo recital on the 14th that I will be trying my hardest to get recorded by someone.

Oh, gold/gold alloy headjoints are fun to play (you feel very shiny while doing so XD, not to mention sound), but my favourite was when I got to try a platinum one (Powell iirc).

Holy shit, from control over sound to dynamics range to just the tone - it was just an experience. I'll probably never get the chance to play one again lol, considering the sheer price on those.

not to mention, haven't played for almost a year now :P

Piano wasn't difficult, but that's probably because it was learned while young - I actually quit piano for flute haha, since my hands were too small to successfully play pieces after a certain level.

Why'd you choose flute, out of all the other instruments? (as it was a requirement)
Ah, you got to use a platinum Powell one, that's nice. Also from your answers, I get the impression you were really enjoying it.

Why flute, you ask? It's very simple: nobody else wanted it. I managed to do it just fine, although I wouldn't say I was particularly skilled. I think one needs to have some sort of interest or 'love' so to speak, playing it has to involve emotions, there's no doubt about that

Ah piano since you were young, that explains it then

But wait, how many talents, emc? We know about your story writing, your animation, playing difficult instruments, what else are you hiding in your goody bag?

Homemade :o That's interesting

I've had the chance to use a gold one many times (probably gold combined with something else), I felt a bit fancy

Keep in mind that I'm not a professional, playing an instrument was part of my curriculum requirement

Was it hard learning how to play the piano?

:o

A fellow flute player in the wild! What kind(s) do you play?
Transverse flute, haven't used any other. How about you?
Yep, same here - mainly western concert, but I've dabbled with various bamboo ones, including homemade ones that were terrible lol

Do you have any preferences towards type/material? (or favourite pieces, I'll take a look at 'em if you do :D)

Bass is one of those instruments that you'll almost always be successful with if you're at least decent. There's such a small amount of bass players and such a high demand of them.

And wow. That was more than a year ago, I just looked back and forgot I shared that. I definitely have some more... erm.. Inspiring stuff going on now, and I’m working on A LOT of projects whenever I have time outside of work and class (which basically means I’m not really working on them)

In theory, I'm a classical pianist, though actually getting things going isn't happening (yet![?]).

I love these threads, though, even if I seldom reply. Last one I saw someone playing the piano and I was really, really amazed. I mean, it really did impact me to hear something (which I by the way liked) played by some random teenager, if I recall correctly, somewhere very far from me, who happened to play diplomacy on webDip as well.

So please, share recordings! (Mr. Green, I'll hear you as soon as I can count on my sister. I still didn't manage to operate spotify on my own)
oh, Wyatt's improv stuck with you too :D

and "getting things going" as in getting gigs, or getting started on learning how to play piano? haha
