12 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1901: His Holiness, the Pope in Rome, deploys the invasion of the German Empire by Russian troops and sends an urgent appeal for peace between the Tsar and the Kaiser.
13 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1901: At the express invitation of the Ali III, the Bey of Tunis, the Royal Italian Government has been asked to send a military contingent to Tunis to help train the Bey's forces to curb incursions of marauding Bedouin tribes. To promote good relations between our two peoples, the government of the Kingdom of Italy has agreed to the proposal.
18 Aug 12 UTC Spring, 1902: His Holiness, Pope Leo XIII, is deeply distressed by the ongoing conflicts between the German and Russian Empires in the north and the Austro-Hungarian and Ottoman Empires in the south. The Supreme Pontiff orders all churches to hold special masses and asks the Faithful to pray for peace.
20 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1902: "The fall of St. Petersburg to English forces, the fall of Rumania to Austro-Hungarian troops and the recapture of Silesia by German divisions is a divine retribution by God for the aggression of the Tsarist empire against peace loving countries," so quoted His Holiness, Pope Leo XIII in an interview with reporters at L'Osservatore Omano. The Supreme Pontiff prays that the Tsar will repent of his sins against peace loving countries and offers the mediation of the Holy See to all warring parties.
21 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1902: A revolution has occurred in France, and a new leader has arisen to guide the country during these tumultuous times. While lacking in Diplomatic experience, he appears eager to establish communication with his neighbours, and to guide the country boldly into the future.
21 Aug 12 UTC Spring, 1903: The unexpected toppling of the government in France has produced widespread violence throughout that great country. The new secular government, hostile to the historic rights of the Roman Catholic Church, has proposed to confiscate church property, abolish religious parochial schools, and ban the public celebration of Christian feasts. Naturally these harsh actions have led to an explosive turmoil throughout all of France, causing many refugees flee the country into Spain and France. His Holiness, Pope Leo XIII, has denounced this unprovoked assault upon the Faithful in France as the greatest threat to the Church in the modern era. The Holy See appealed to Catholic countries to intervene in France to protect the lives of the Faithful and the rights of the Holy Mother Church. Two pious sons of the Church, King Vittorio Emanuele III of Italy, and his ally, King Alfonzo XIII of Spain, both pledged their fidelity to the Supreme Pontiff and Vicar of Christ on Earth. Each sovereign vowed to intervene in France to restore order and maintain the rights of the Church undefiled and unsullied.
22 Aug 12 UTC Spring, 1903: Austria is shocked, shocked I say, to witness the arrest of the French Republic's duly elected leaders by the radical anticlericals! The panic and disorder in Marseilles and surrounding districts are a menace to civilized discourse among nations. We urge the people of southern France to throw off the yoke of this despot's tyranny and rejoin the congress of right-thinking states.
22 Aug 12 UTC Spring, 1903: The French people were shocked at the unprovoked aggression of those under the influence of the Holy See. In order to suppress dissent, France was forced to order the units in Marseilles to disband as the Italians, with the support of the Papal Puppet in Spain, sent their military onto French territory. The English established a foothold in Brest, and the French units stationed there moved south, barely leaving the area before the English fleets arrived. The French leader has stated, "This egregious assault on France will not stand, and we will stand firm in the face of such blatant hostility". Local citizens are not as firm in their support of the leader they recently placed into power, but have no choice to carry on.
22 Aug 12 UTC Spring, 1903: Jubilant crowds, waving Italian and Papal flags, threw garlands of flowers at the feet of Italian troops as they marched through the streets of Marseilles. These festive scenes were repeated in Brest as English naval forces entered the city and wrested control of the city from the unpopular French revolutionary government. This has led to riots and turmoil in the French capital.

In Rome, King Vittorio Emanuele III hastened to the Vatican. There on bent knees, after kissing the papal ring, he presented the keys of the city of Avignon to Pope Leo XIII. This city, once site of the Holy See in the Middle Ages, had been unlawfully seized during the French Revolution. Now it was restored to the Papacy.

The Holy Father, rejoicing at both the wonderful news from France and the glad tidings from the Balkans that Austro-Hungarian forces had liberated Greece from the heel of the Muslim Turkish infidels, wept for joy. Pope Leo XIII immediately held a Te Deum Mass at St. Peter’s basilica. During the sacred service the pontiff bestowed the Supreme Order of Christ on King Vittorio Emanuele and the Order of the Golden Spur upon Emperor Franz-Joseph in thanksgiving for their pious defense of Holy Mother Church.
22 Aug 12 UTC Spring, 1903: A spokesman at the Vatican expressed alarm at the rampage of marauding Cossacks roaming through central Europe. Innocent people are being beaten and robbed. Churches have been despoiled. The Royal Italian Government, also noting that the plundering hordes have ravaged both Bohemia and Tyrolia, warns the Tsar to rein in his troops.
23 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1903: Issuing a declaration that has rocked the nation, the leader of the French Republic has called for a week of prayer and fasting throughout the country.

"We, the people of France, must not forget where we came from. We have rebelled against the natural order, and are paying the price. I have called for a week of prayer and fasting throughout the country. We must ask for forgiveness from God for our fight against his representatives on earth. I have sent requests to the Vatican requesting that Bishops from the Holy See come to give Mass to all those that would wash themselves clean before God. On bended knee, we ask that the Father Above show mercy to us, who have erred in our struggle for power."

After issuing the declaration, the leader of France was not available for questioning, but was seen to cross himself before walking away.
25 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1903: Vatican: Pope Leo XIII denounced the Russian invasion of Italy and the sack of Venice. "The crimes of the evil Tsar and his barbarous hordes offend all of Christendom," the Pontiff declared from the steps of St. Peter, "And it is our fervent prayer that God will strike down these heathen savages and send these treacherous rogues back to the steppes, far from civilized people!"

Later that day, the Holy Father received the representative of the new French Government. Humbling kneeling before the Pontiff, the French representatives begged forgiveness for past errors and pledged to respect the rights of the Catholic Church in France. The Pope was pleased at the contrition of the French officials. With trembling hand, the aged pontiff blessed the representatives, lifting all Papal bans and restoring the French to good standing in the Church.

31 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1904: Says the one who took St Petersburg
31 Aug 12 UTC Autumn, 1904: You didn't miss your builds! Plus I am pretty sure St. Petersburg took me.
02 Sep 12 UTC Spring, 1905: Rome: Pope Pius X led prayers of thanksgiving at St. Peter's Basilica for the glorious Italian victories which drove back the Russian hordes from Rome, recaptured Venice and threw the Cossacks out of Italy. The new pontiff, recently elected upon the lamented passing of the sainted Leo XIII, dropped to his knees and praised God for the fall of Moscow to the German armies and Sevastopol to the forces of Austria-Hungary. The Holy Father prayed that soon the evil Tsar Nicholas would be captured and tried for war crimes against humanity.
05 Sep 12 UTC Spring, 1905: Rome: The church bells in Rome and throughout Italy are ringing for joy at the liberation of Spain from the clutches of the English and the fall of St. Petersburg to the German army. Pope Pius X also expressed pleasure at the ousting of the Russians from Trieste though he condemned the retreating Russians sack of Vienna. "These godless wretches are a pestilence and need to be exterminated!" the Holy Father was quoted as saying.
