17 Jun 12 UTC I think we should all unpause, so that when turkey returns, all we'll need is for him to click "unpause" and we are back underway.
25 Jun 12 UTC So, turkey asked for a pause on the 13th of june, a puase which was supposed to last 5-6 days. It has lasted more than 10 days.

I assume we will keep the pause till the 27/28 now?

England - why have you not voted to unpause yet?

The sooner the votes get in, the sooner we can re-start.
26 Jun 12 UTC Because I am gone from june 29th to July 10th, so need the pause. Sorry.
26 Jun 12 UTC I'm voting for a draw.
We wont play till july 10th...and then I'm sure someone else will have to pause for a few weeks...and then I'll need a pause in August for a week.
28 Jun 12 UTC Im back! Thanks fo holding
29 Jun 12 UTC i guess we are waiting for england...
29 Jun 12 UTC yeah.....
29 Jun 12 UTC Anyone want to play a Med game in the meantime?
30 Jun 12 UTC i dont play med...world?
30 Jun 12 UTC I've noticed most people don't care for it. Any particular reason?
30 Jun 12 UTC too few players, board's too small, too easy to stalemate

one of the things i like about dip is the seven players, or in world 17(!?)
keeps it nice and chaotic

truth be told, i've played so much world dip that classic seems like a small board now
30 Jun 12 UTC i've only played a few rounds of world.. I've yet to not be crushed immediately by a alliance on my continent
30 Jun 12 UTC talking to ppl goes a long way there
it is dip, after all
30 Jun 12 UTC I've just got unlucky draws. I've only drawn Canada also so I've never got to play as a different country.
02 Jul 12 UTC i think that the classic has a far better balance than the world, and the med is a bit silly with everyone pretty much guarranteed a bunch of early builds.
02 Jul 12 UTC Ya if everyone in Med plays their cards right everyone gets 3. It's pretty rare that people don't. Once one country falls it's typically a 2 on 2 power struggle.
03 Jul 12 UTC russia - you think classic is better "balanced"? In what sense?

In classic, austria is very off balance - in almost all noob games, austria is the first casualty.
France as well - has a much higher win/draw % than other nations, while russia is almost 50/50 win or elimination.

Not to mention the stalemate line and nation/centre division...3 nations in the west and 4 in the east? unbalanced
7 neutrals in the west (for 3 players) and only 5 neutrals in the south (for 4 players)...unbalanced

both world and classic have a variety of positions, with a variety of benefits and pitfalls
03 Jul 12 UTC Ya austria almost always looses out first. unless turkey or russia misses a start round they are off to a rough start.
03 Jul 12 UTC it's true that some have to work harder than others to make allies in order to survive or grow but that's the nature of diplomacy and each nation in classic has a unique position he has to work from where is the positions in world are all just some variation on the seven originals. there is nothing new just a lot more of it.
03 Jul 12 UTC it just seems like every player is involved in the original game whereas the world variation makes it so most players never get involved with anyone but their few neighbors.
03 Jul 12 UTC Well, if you look at player interaction on a percentile scale, it remains fairly constant from classic to world.

There are more players in world, so there are more you "don't" talk to, or who don't talk at all themselves. However, you still (outside of gunboat) wind up diploming with 8-12 players on a consistent basis; at least until they are slain.

Thats what makes winning or drawing in a 2-4 player draw in world dip so satisfying; the percentage of total players you defeat in world dip is much higher.

I agree that world tends to be rather quiet; but when you do find a strong, communicative and tactical board of players who know the value of stalemate linesand long term strategy; the games are better than many classic dip games.
04 Jul 12 UTC the flip-side of that coin is the increased number of no-shows or players who leave go cd. with classic you just need to find 7 dedicated players who will stick it out to the end to have a full and terrific game. with world that's almost impossible.
04 Jul 12 UTC he says it's hard to find players in a world game who are committed; meanwhile, here we sit in a classic dip game in an endless pause....
04 Jul 12 UTC ahahah.. yes this is a good point...
04 Jul 12 UTC better this than someone getting screwed over because all the players can't agree to a pause.
10 Jul 12 UTC so, are we about ready to get started again here?
july 10th was the restart date, right?
11 Jul 12 UTC I guess not.
15 Jul 12 UTC anyone still out there?

I'm thinking of contacting a mod and asking them to unpause this for us
15 Jul 12 UTC Im still here but im leaving on the 19th lol i will draw if people are over waiting.
18 Jul 12 UTC we've been so long away from this thing. let's just get a draw or a cancel from a mod unless england wants to surprise us all and return from holiday.
18 Jul 12 UTC Draw
31 Jul 12 UTC any news? england coming back?
31 Jul 12 UTC i posted in the forum and nothing happened

any thoughts here?
31 Jul 12 UTC bombard england with PM's?
03 Aug 12 UTC (zultar): Please do not create threads in the forum about your on-going games. Email us at webdipmod@gmail.com for any issue.

In regards to this game, it looks like it should have been unpaused in July. I can tell you that England has not been on for more than three weeks. So, I can unpause this game, force the draw, or cancel it depending on what you folks can agree to.

Feel free to discuss it here and once an agreement has been reached, please email us (mention zultar in the subject so I can respond to it).
03 Aug 12 UTC I'll go for a draw.
What do the rest of you think?
03 Aug 12 UTC I just asked the mods to end ill keep playing if we can
03 Aug 12 UTC Draw!
03 Aug 12 UTC nothing will happen unless the mods unlock it
03 Aug 12 UTC omg the mod just said he;d draw if we want
03 Aug 12 UTC just unpauseeeeeeeee
05 Aug 12 UTC no one is answering, so an unpause would lead only to multiple cd's
i'm emailing the mods for a draw
06 Aug 12 UTC (zultar): Turkey and Italy have yet to speak. This has to be unanimous.
06 Aug 12 UTC Unpause!
06 Aug 12 UTC ok, so everyone except italy and turkey have asked for a draw

turkey - you ok with a draw?
italy? still out there somewhere? draw?
06 Aug 12 UTC if we are going through all this fuss I don't know whats wrong with still playing.. if it's draw or endless limbo i'll take a draw
08 Aug 12 UTC (zultar): Italy has been gone for four days as well. I think it's fair to say that this game is dying. I will give them another 24-48 hours. After that, I will draw the game.
08 Aug 12 UTC k
10 Aug 12 UTC ?
10 Aug 12 UTC (zultar): I hope that was satisfactory to everyone. I gave England plenty of time and he just hasn't responded at all. Hopefully your other games will proceed more smoothly.
