1 excused missed turn
Game won by jasnah (192 D)
12 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1901: Karthik got this close to soloing vftf
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: I'm sorry, a German Rumania, you say
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: I'm sorry that's not important compared to an Austrian Turkey, holy hell
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1901: Happens a lot in ftf, people go wherever they want and positions make no sense. It's part of the reason why I suck
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Damn, well played by Karthik (as Germany, right?) in the early game. Examining through 1903, looks like F promised/was nice to E, but then G convinced F to build double fleets, used that to convince Russia to turn against E

and then E obvious decided to say fuck you to F which gives the long term advantage to G in the F/G, because the French assault on Italy is always harder than Germany capturing the rest of scandinavia (especially without an England to cause trouble)
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: how do I send them these compliments
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: Turkey dotting Austria in A04...smh
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: wtf is France doing not forcing Germany to move out of NTH by A04...
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: sorry A05
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: ah there we go France, units for bouncing with, yes yes
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: it's vftf
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: My only critique would be that in S09, maybe do NTH -> LON and DEN -> NTH instead? Sets up to take ENG and knock the army out of BEL still.
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: you can't look at it with GB eyes
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: it's a totally different game
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: yes sorry, got carried away with the live tweeting
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1902: probably should have paid more attention to this game
12 Dec 20 UTC Spring, 1903: No worries, all I meant is that vftf has some crazy stuff happen lol
12 Dec 20 UTC Autumn, 1903: guessed everything wrong. I just don't stop to think anymore. spent two hours just now talking, so fucking bad
13 Dec 20 UTC Ah smart, ggs
13 Dec 20 UTC This game was the "dont risk losing Burgundy" lesson :)
13 Dec 20 UTC gg, finally, a classic Rush
13 Dec 20 UTC Totally busted Austrian position, destroyed with just more turn that France doesn't have
13 Dec 20 UTC Always going to be hard after going to Piedmont vs the Anti Alpine..I've drawn a game like that once and every other time lose
13 Dec 20 UTC Yeah I see that now. I didn't think it would be that strong. I also was trying to read your mind that you wouldn't open anti-Alpine again...your mind is fighting back :|
13 Dec 20 UTC I screwed up 03 badly. You would probably have had it if you had gone Gol-TYS in S04, then block ION in autumn, and Austria can't send the fleet over to get Smyrna.
13 Dec 20 UTC Is the better continuation in A02:
NTH -> HOL, BUR -> MUN with support?

Ignore that that would beat your moves in this game, that's not what I'm trying to learn from this. Let's see, you as Austria would have retreated to KIE or BER or SIL, and gotten into BOH and still in TYR.

So then France backfills BUR in S03, MUN heads to KIE with supports, and France is basically conceding Scandinavia? Yeah this looks really rough for France.
13 Dec 20 UTC ----
I almost sent SPA to WES in S03. I have it saved for the longest time, but I needed to hedge that one bet on BUR moving.

In S04, I did that because I expected APU -> ION and I didn't want to get my second fleet stuck behind TYS and ION bouncing in TUN.
13 Dec 20 UTC Ohhhh, giving up NAP isn't that bad in S04, because I can retake or I can defend VEN, and this works better if I move into TYS. Ah that's a lesson.
13 Dec 20 UTC NTH-Den always, that's always right, Bur-Mun with support and Tyrolia cut would probably indeed have been better, guaranteeing your 3-build and getting Munich. Austria going to Kiel is unpleasant but tolerable, as long as you're in Denmark with the fleet you've cut him off, and would just kick him out next year (ideally).
13 Dec 20 UTC *thumbs up*
13 Dec 20 UTC Svkris has some good games where he won as France with these openings, I pretty much just always go search through his games when I need to research an unfamiliar 1v1 situation lol.
13 Dec 20 UTC Well, not exactly the same, but still Piedmont
13 Dec 20 UTC Ah, and Svkrls continued BEL -> HOL instead of going to RUH. Perhaps I place too much concern on pushing back units early on, when instead I need to continue to get builds as France.
13 Dec 20 UTC Yeah I did Swiss Split, they did alpine, but close enough really.
13 Dec 20 UTC How do you search the games so quickly to find these situations? Are you just manually going through them?
13 Dec 20 UTC I think Bel-Ruh is better, I actually have no idea of the rationale of going to Hol, but I imagine he knows better than I do..
13 Dec 20 UTC I have a few games bookmarked or committed to memory, I spent way too much time over the summer studying fva and GB games of great players because I was doing virtual internship with just like 2 hours of work a day.
14 Dec 20 UTC *takes notes, virtual internship == good at diplomacy*
