09 Oct 20 UTC Good game everyone!
09 Oct 20 UTC gg. @tobie we could have taken out Italy if there was will for it, but I was pretty done..

played terribly on my end but Claesar decided to assist me. my thanks
09 Oct 20 UTC to whichever of you CD'ed in teccles, fuck you
09 Oct 20 UTC Disappointed you never tried for the solo :(
09 Oct 20 UTC no chance, didnt have the SCs..you know how a strong Austria prevents a Germany solo :P
09 Oct 20 UTC But seriously though well done you did a great job
09 Oct 20 UTC T_T
09 Oct 20 UTC @Germany i've thought about stabbing Italy many many times throughout the game, but i was afraid that you would have been able to solo if i stabbed
09 Oct 20 UTC And i didn't really want to stab him because he was really nice to me :)
09 Oct 20 UTC Thanks for this wonderfull alliance @Italy!
09 Oct 20 UTC Good game, all!

Tobie, I was worried about how long Tyrolia open was open. I think I could have held the line for the most part, but if Germany had gotten into Tyrolia, I might’ve lost some ground. Only an attack from Austria would’ve triggered a solo though.

Seren, thanks for not prolonging it lol.
09 Oct 20 UTC Tobie, that was fun! Thanks for being a great ally!
22 Oct 20 UTC It seems I forgot to mention that I hate both of you, Alea and TFB. You played to lose. Unfortunately I was unable to punish both of you for it.
22 Oct 20 UTC My only regret was not sliding into MAO into 1901 instead of going for Brest. I wanted an EG there and Seren didn't. By the time it became clear she had no interest I had still failed to get a build and had little ability to create a strong enough defensive force until I got Brest. If you don't give up on Iberia and go for Liverpool I can successfully defend against her without needing guesses to go my way and maybe could get lucky as one of Austria or Germany decide it's time to cross the line and get a Munich. After you had Liverpool my defense was mostly collapsed so I decided I needed to punish you and then fight for survival and hope dynamics on the board change and then try to take advantage of them as they change. Unfortunately the Central Triple never abated so c'est la vie. I tried to induce it by making sure Seren got my dots instead of Italy but even that couldn't induce a stab. I don't think I played to lose until 1906 by an reasonable definition of the phrase and even when I did I was still trying playing to win by inducing a stab of Seren by others.None of my plans worked but they were there and could have created a good result imo.
22 Oct 20 UTC Only major regret *. Plenty of minor ones
22 Oct 20 UTC I reckon after A01 it's pretty obvious you've made a mistake. You didn't outguess me. There's a fleet build in Kiel. You won't get a build for years. Time to change direction. Instead, you decide to go down a road which can only lead to a loss for you. It's obvious Germany will have 8 centres before you find your 5th. That's suicide. When Germany takes Paris, they have little other choice but to attack you.

In '04, again you're playing to lose. You devote resources to taking Brest, which you could have used to fight Germany. Instead, you commit to another losing fight. If you have ordered Nth-Ska in A04 I could've gotten behind your reasoning, but this was just plain wrong. Even if Ska is the mover, you want to backfill it so you get a reasonable position.

The fact that you didn't see my move to Liverpool coming just shows how poorly you were playing. What else did you expect me to do? I couldn't hold Spain. It was a mandatory move.
22 Oct 20 UTC On Liverpool I agree that was stupid of me
22 Oct 20 UTC After A01 I figured Italian pressure would force you to break before. And those W01 builds looked fairly anti Russian
23 Oct 20 UTC sorry that should read break before Germany builds a third fleet. At that point I skedaddled on out
23 Oct 20 UTC Really? I don't see how they could be more anti-English save for postponing one of the armies.

What Italian pressure? It was just a lone army. Turkey had a fleet in Aegean and Smyrna.
23 Oct 20 UTC That's my normal configuration for going after Russia. Take Silesia and Prussia send Kiel to Baltic and Den-Swe. I figured if she truly bore me significant ill will she would have let Russia in.

She instead went full bore after you and vacated Denmark. By the end of Spring 1903 I was fairly confident I would get support into Brest and Italy would have fleet TYS, GOL, and army Marseilles. Got the latter part right but she tapped Brest instead. At that point I knew what the build was going to be and the classic conundrum of what to do when Germany gets to 7/8 before you get to 5 was revealed (a conundrum we discussed in the past). I pulled back hard but never really had a means of stopping you from going to Liverpool now that I look back. Any guess to stop you would have cost me my defensive position against her. My only option was to pray that you to die quickly instead of slowly and choose to defend Iberia instead of coming for me. A low odds prayer but such is life.
23 Oct 20 UTC I though it was a good play, but turns out Russia just looked at is an opportunity to grab instead of working together.

I was banking on the fact that Russia is bad in Gunboat so they should really be keeping any ally that they can get. Didn't happen. Otherwise, my Turkey first year moves completely shuts down any combined Austrian-Italian attack.

All that's left is to play the waiting game. Unfortunately, gambling on Russia being an ally didn't work
23 Oct 20 UTC This game has strengthened my belief that Turkey gameplay is either go for default move and wait for a misplay.

Best case scenario is early Italian attack on Austria. Turkey directly attacking Russia unfortunately has a bigger chance of benefitting Austria rather than Turkey (because of the way how the Balkans work).
23 Oct 20 UTC Yeah, I regret attacking you. My hope was that Italy, not having much chance to get gains out of you, would attack Austria because the latter was getting too strong. But Italy going West successfully gave them another avenue, and left us both in serious trouble. That was somewhat predictable after Italy's 1901, and I should just have stuck with you and fought Austria.
