Autumn, 1904: Farewell cruel world! An excellent crushing hipandcurrent. Well played. Good luck to all.
Autumn, 1904: gg turkey :)
Autumn, 1905: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
Autumn, 1905: what a quiet season haha
Spring, 1906: Ok, I have just decided to go for a single win. No draws...

Spring, 1907: Good game France
Spring, 1907: Once Russia is eliminated, would people be open to a draw?

Autumn, 1909: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
Autumn, 1909: Hello, New England here. Let me catch up on press and I'll ready up soon.
Autumn, 1909: This message is sent on behalf of a united Germany/England. We offer a Draw to all parties, subject to: a) neither Austria nor Italy attack any German or English unit this turn, nor any province currently coloured brown or pink; b) all parties vote Draw before the end of this current turn. If this offer is not accepted by BOTH Austria and Italy, then Germany and England will combine to throw the game in favour of the party who: a) does not attack us, as defined above; and b) who votes Draw first. IOW, if you're the last to vote Draw, you will likely lose or possibly draw, but you can never win. Austria and Italy, you may think you can solo against the other. But you can't solo against the combined weight of the other plus England and Germany. Best to draw now, take your marbles, and go win the next game. And in case you are thinking about a 2-way draw, how likely do you think it is that you will be able to engineer precisely 17 spots each (not 16, not 18), when there are two countries actively working to throw spots toward one of you. Again, deadline expires at the end of this current phase. |
|
Autumn, 1909: Ohh, interesting play Germany-England! Real test of the alliance there, I wonder if they have enough trust to ignore the draw request and continue squeezing! |
|
Autumn, 1909: What do you call two guys who could win the game, but agree not to try?
Autumn, 1909: the game is called webDIPLOMACY. not webFUCKOVEREVERYBODYYOUPLAYWITH
Spring, 1910: @England, I understand the attempt, there is certainly a level of diplomacy in threatening to aid a potential enemy. However, it didn't seem to work (No need to get snippy about that). The purpose of the game is alliances. They are not doing anything odd / wrong for sticking to them. Most people are content with draws (Not everyone needs world domination)
Spring, 1910: Yep. And the rules define who is a winner. There can be only one. Everyone else is a loser.
Spring, 1910: i think it's more fun working with people. 'There can be only one' lol mate it's an internet game not the highlander, although i might watch that now so thanks for the suggestion
Spring, 1910: I guess it depends on which rules you are referring to. Here is the most recent version from the official publisher I believe: "As soon as one of the great powers controls 18 supply centres, it is considered to have gained control of Europe. The player representing that Great Power is the winner. However, players can end the game by agreement before a winner if determined. In this case, all players who still have pieces on the board share equally in a draw." That said, I also think all players should try to get a win with as few other players as possible. A solo victory clearly trumps a tied victory. That said, their best bet would probably be to crush you both then fight it out, no? :) |
|
Spring, 1910: and crush we shall
Spring, 1910: If the strategy is to eliminate us then "fight it out," I respect that. But I don't think that is what we are seeing here. What we are seeing here is collusion to not do one's best to win the game.
Spring, 1910: collusion: noun; secret or illegal cooperation or conspiracy in order to deceive others.
Spring, 1910: dude, you're getting way in over your head on this
Spring, 1910: anybody got a tin foil hat for england?
Spring, 1910: I agree. I play to win. Not everybody does, I guess. Whatever floats your boat. I joined this game as a replacement to help keep it going. Lets just keep it moving toward its miserable end.

Spring, 1910: Hello, new italy here
Spring, 1910: Oh dear. What happens when you make a draw deal with your close ally, and they bail on you!
Spring, 1910: Welcome to the game, New Italy. Thanks for joining.
Spring, 1910: my god england get a grip
Autumn, 1911: I hope someone tries to win this game and proves me wrong.
Autumn, 1911: i'm just glad you're out
Spring, 1912: Classy to the end.
Spring, 1912: Says you | |
Spring, 1912: germany buddy, making the game last as long as possible isn't bothering me. I go to work everyday and log in when i get home. you're wasting your own time too. But feel free it's all good. See you tomorrow!
Spring, 1912: So you can play the way you want to, but he can’t? You signed up for a 24 hour game. Suck it up.
Spring, 1912: did i say that? no. and i'm going to do exactly that. just pipe down loser
Spring, 1912: Wow, the name calling. You are a real winner.
Spring, 1912: Your comment that I'm a loser got me wondering. So I checked: Cdngooner: Classic Ranked: Won: 1 ( 11% ) Drawn: 6 ( 67% ) Defeated: 2 ( 22% ) Variant Stats: Won: 5 ( 71% ) Survived: 1 ( 14% ) Defeated: 1 ( 14% ) Sam_hunt: Classic Ranked: Drawn: 2 ( 50% ) Defeated: 2 ( 50% ) Variant Stats: Won: 1 ( 4% ) Drawn: 9 ( 33% ) Survived: 3 ( 11% ) Defeated: 14 ( 52% ) So, yeah, thought so. |
