Spring, 1901: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): You're all set! Good luck and thank you for your patience
Spring, 1901: So much patience.
Autumn, 1903: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Quick pause for the weekend folks
Autumn, 1903: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Unpaused. I've reset the process time but you can ready if you'd like to advance the phase
Autumn, 1903: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
Autumn, 1903: Who was it? Was it you England? It must have been England, he is getting bored with this game because he only has 7 centers.
Autumn, 1903: Wasn't me. Maybe it was Switzerland. |
|
Autumn, 1903: Switzerland has gone dark. Probably them.
Autumn, 1903: And they've stopped returning my calls.
Autumn, 1903: Switzerland totally ghosted me after our last date.
Autumn, 1903: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Come on guys. We're in the endgame now. Don't give in
Autumn, 1904: Well, screw this game. I'm out.
Spring, 1905: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Unpaused. Sorry for the delay, I had thought Kestas would unpause everything in one go this morning.
Spring, 1906: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
Spring, 1906: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): I'll reach out to the player
Spring, 1906: Sorry everyone
Autumn, 1906: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Pushing this forward then
Autumn, 1906: BOOOO AUSTRIA BOO9O
Autumn, 1906: Sorry, it had to be done
Autumn, 1906: Isn't that how is goes in billions of games of Diplomacy? Italy says "boo", Austria says, "Bow to the inevitable".
Autumn, 1906: sometimes it's the other way around
Autumn, 1907: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
Autumn, 1907: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Pausing this pre-emptively
Autumn, 1907: Sorry again all
Autumn, 1907: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Unpaused
Autumn, 1909: Draw vote in. The players on the board seem too smart to let anyone solo
Autumn, 1909: Yes, very rarely have I played in a game like that.
Autumn, 1909: Yes, very rarely have I played in a game like that.
Spring, 1910: Who do you think about a draw?
Spring, 1910: I'd love to draw.
Spring, 1910: Draw in | |
Spring, 1910: England, what about you?
Spring, 1910: That awkward moment when you support yourself out of Munich because you were afraid of it being disbanded, and the other players don't even tap it.
Autumn, 1910: Well... It appears clear to me that Austria has no intention of drawing, and has only had the opportunity of such a well timed publicity stunt because s/he's certain I'll not vote draw. Which, in turn, maybe I should... Anyway. I find that people often want to draw with no solid reason. There is clearly no stalemate whatsoever, five players are around with varying strengths, but all are relevant. What makes it a draw? The simple fact that we've reached 1910? That the trend in movements we've been in has lost traction, leaving room for new manoeuvres and uncertainty? Often I think people draw out of fear, when the game has evolved considerably from early game and openings, and no one knows exactly what to do, or for what reason. But that does not necessarily equal a draw. Granted, clear paths as in 1901 no longer exist, but this game still offers many possibilities, perhaps even more, and more thrilling ones, than it did in 1901. No need to mimic 2012's World Cup PP Final, but I'm the opinion a proper game should be played to its completion. Surely those worthy enough will survive to a draw, when that happens - and I already share with you that I hate to reduce draws just for the sake of it. |
|
Autumn, 1910: No intention of drawing? I called for the draw, put my vote down, and havent flinched since all but you followed with their draw vote. Publicity stunt or not, the fact remains that your lack of vote is what causes this game to continue. But I should thank you, for I have thoroughly enjoyed my press with each player in this game, and I look forward to continuing that press as we explore the many possibilities beyond 1910. If we are to play on, then let us play on with the same energy that we played with in the first 10 years. |
|
Autumn, 1911: That was a tactically poor year for me. Thought it was Fall, not Spring.
Autumn, 1914: I typed out a long message apologizing to Russia but found out they muted me. Now I feel sad... can someone tell Russia to unmute me so I can apologize?
Autumn, 1916: Hey Russia, Austria is very sad that you muted them.
Autumn, 1916: GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
Autumn, 1916: Wow this game is still going?
Autumn, 1916: What, it’s only 1917, I think we can at least make it to 1940
GameMaster: Game was extended due to at least 1 member failing to enter orders and having an excused missed turn available. This has un-readied all orders.
Does someone need us to pause the game or something?
Ops! No, that was me! But I'll catch up during the day!
I realized it was beyond my tactical skill, or at least beyond the level of risk I was willing to undertake, to solo, despite firmly holding Tunis, as I couldn’t figure how to prevent Germany from throwing to Austria. Perhaps I should have attacked earlier? Anyway. Knowing Germany and Russia played an excellent game, while Austria displayed formidable skill as my main opponent, I knew you wouldn’t make any bizarre mistake, so... better draw! I’ll write something more detailed tomorrow, but congratulations to all! A very thrilling game to play, from my point of view. |
|
Gg everyone, I enjoyed this game a lot and although I'm a bit sad that Russia muted me, it was still a much higher level game than most others I have played recently.
I dont usually write up AARs, but with the way this game went, I'd be more keen to write one for this game if others are interested
I'd be interested. I'm glad I got the chance to play with some high level players, this was a challenge. Gg all.
