24 May 20 UTC Well played all
24 May 20 UTC Yes, thanks. GG!
24 May 20 UTC So what were everyone's thoughts on the game?
24 May 20 UTC I’m curious what the relationship was like between England and Germany early on. I may have turned on Turkey sooner but I believed that you two we’re working closely. Of course then Turkey stabbed me right after
24 May 20 UTC I’m curious what the relationship was like between England and Germany early on. I may have turned on Turkey sooner but I believed that you two we’re working closely. Of course then Turkey stabbed me right after
24 May 20 UTC We were pretty close but I was open to the idea of stabbing Germany sooner. The main reason I didn't was that I still had centres to gain from France and I assumed Germany would take Frances side of I stabbed while France was still going, and also because Germany disbanded their fleet then I felt that they were fairly little threat to me so I could take my time with it.

I really didn't expect things to resolve between Austria and Turkey so fast so I expected to have more time to attack Germany before having to deal with a full solo threat from the east
24 May 20 UTC I actually thought Turkey had the tactical advantage in autumn 06 when I decided to turn on Germany which is why I didn't take up turkeys offer to accept support into Tunis from turkey (thinking Austria needed the unit to slow down Turkey but that ultimately Turkey would come out on top anyway)
24 May 20 UTC I was very aware I would get stabbed when I grew a bit too quickly in the middle game. I tried to back off by giving the Englishman St. Petersburg but that was already a little too late. I am pretty happy I was able to defend both Austria’s and England’s stab. Of course I pushed Turkey to attack Austria, but when it happened England started the stab on me. I realised I couldn’t profit, so instead of attacking Austria I went full defensive and welcomed the Austrian back to the centre. In late mid game I had serious doubts I would make it till the end, but I am happy with the finish. Helping Austria to Warsaw and occupying Munich and Marseilles turned out to be a great move. It was a fun and very dynamic game. Thanks all!
24 May 20 UTC I'm interested to know Germany, how far could I have pushed it before you threw the game to Austria? Were you playing for the draw to the bitter end, or were you prepared to throw the game in Austria's favour even while you had a hint of a chance at drawing?
Was my message to you outlining the fact that I wanted a solo bit was prepared to accept a draw (which was totally sincere by the way) any help or just a waste or even annoying?
24 May 20 UTC Italy was played pretty weakly, Russia made a great comeback which I can only respect, France just had the bad luck that, even though his press was funny, neither the Englisman or me were going to give him any space.
24 May 20 UTC I'm impressed with Germany's ability to earn a spot in the draw, and Austria's ability to be the main solo threat from one of the hardest starts in the game
24 May 20 UTC I like players that are mature and pragmatic. England and Austria both were just that. I would always have preferred and played for being included in a draw. I have enjoyed the press from both England and Austria during the game. Also I thought you both were being quite realistic in the end game when it came down to control of the stalemate line.
24 May 20 UTC What’s interesting is that pretty much everyone in this game has relatively little experience on Webdip. I thought I was a rookie in between some more experienced players, since this is only my third serious game. Turns out we had no real vets on our board. That surprises me.
24 May 20 UTC Oh, apologies, I notice only now that Russia does have quite a few games completed. Anyway, well done to Austria and England. Good game.
24 May 20 UTC Good game everyone this was also my first press game on here and it was quite enjoyable. Germany I wonder if we could have cooperated more closely in the mid-game since we both ended up getting stabbed by our corner partner. And England I was very worried you were going to take Tunis I’m not sure I would have survived that with much strength. Anyway well played all
24 May 20 UTC The other point of the game I'm interested to discuss is autumn 01. I was very spooked by Germany's move to Ruhr, as the way I interpreted it was that it had no value against France and therefore was only a move against me. Germany it very nearly made me side with Russia against you and in fact the main reason I didn't was the fact that I saw Austria and Turkey team up against Russia and I didn't want to be tied to a player who was getting attacked on all sides. What was the motivation for that move out of interest?
24 May 20 UTC (I also put up a very sincere argument to Russia about how that made me not trust Germany, but later decided that I was dead anyway if Germany took France's side so threw my lot in with Germany which actually I think was the right move)
24 May 20 UTC So Russia if you thought my argument at the very beginning was all designed to mislead and that I was a really sneaky player, I meant a lot of it but in the end the situation on the board made me change my mind in spring 02
24 May 20 UTC Going to Ruhr totally had value against France. I had bounced him in Burgundy so I wanted the option to do a build in Munich if necessary, which would have given me more leverage on Burgundy in ‘02. The funny thing is that after the Ruhr move both France and England offered me Belgium so that was fine.
24 May 20 UTC That's funny, that reasoning never occurred to me but that makes a lot of sense
And yeah, I didn't want to give away Belgium that turn but I thought doing that would hopefully remove your main motivation for possibly turning on me
24 May 20 UTC And actually I dont know if you intended it but the Ruhr move also had the threat that if I didn't give you Belgium you could take it by force anyway which was a factor in my decision too
