07 Apr 20 UTC Spring, 1907: ok i'm going to be sports center about it now that i'm dead.
my board state analysis.
- Italy: with mostly ships, Italy cant control the middle board. I see a push to take Greece/control Adriatic, and a standoff in Mid Atlantic/Brest as England tries to cover the rear door. I see offensive strategies all around. I think very well positioned to take over anything that has a coast in the long run.
- France ruins: a truce will occur for Italy/England/German to keep Brest/Paris/Marseeils neutral to keep supply holds, and Italy doesn't have too many army reinforcements to take over what remains of France.
- Germany: Munich/Silesia/Prussia holds against bordering aggressions. a precarious truce with England to have belgrium/holland neutral, as England eyes resources diverted to Scandinavia and norther Russia, or defense against Italy. overall, I see a hold/defensive year for Germany.
- Austria: Austria had a good start in the east, but a prolonged campaign in the Balkans has left his west open, while Italy gathered strength. Austria will a big test for diplomacy this upcoming year. will he make a truce with Germany so he can manage Italy? Maybe an alliance with England to bother northern Germany, to distract the Krauts from invading south? Will he make a truce with Italy in the Meditteranean, so Italy can divert interest to fleets in the north? On the issue of Turkey...seems like continued support for Italy has been a bargaining chip to prevent escalating conflict with Italy, but how long will it hold once Italy has amassed resources and has taken over Turkey? And Russia, oh Russia...a distraction in Vienna could cripple all the plans mentioned above...Russia may lose the Vienna unit, but the potential distraction this year for Vienna could be an advantage for Moscow to re position a defense...segue to Russia
- Russia: Russian strategy has been perplexing. Last few years, has seen St Petersburg supporting Moscow supporing Sevastopol...which hasn't netted any strategic gains nor mitigated any losses. moves into Turkey have been absolutely futile. Meanwhile turtling moscow/st pete/sevastopol plus small out reach into Austria hasn't extended footpring much. I think Russia will probably be the last person on the board, and then quickly destroyed. That is unless, he can take advantage of the mayhem in the middle of the board.
Turkey: Turkey has served its purpose as the expansion goal for Italy/Austria, we've reached the midgame. The Italy/Austria detente assured Turkey's defeat in the early game, with no avenue for Turkey's expansion. As they say in Istanbul, Auf Wiedersehn.
08 Apr 20 UTC Autumn, 1907: oof, uncle bill the historical footnote. Not inaccurate, though. I was but a pawn in the game of life
