GG all. I followed the swordsman motto of "England kills France". I expanded on it with "and England lets Russia have Scandinavia". It worked pretty well. I was all set for us to steamroll Germany, but then Russia didn't support me into Kiel in Autumn 1905. Ah well. After that, and Russia attacking Austria instead of letting Austria keep Italy in check, that's when I decided to take my loan of Scandinavia back. After that, it was hard for me to advance because Germany seemed to keep backing out of our alignment for strange 1 center plays. I was particularly frustrated when he didn't support me to Marseille in Autumn 07. I would have forgiven the Belgium 1 center "stab" if I'd had it, AND it would have put my unit in a position to make it hard for me to threaten Germany. At the end game, I was trying to not attack Germany, but basically bring him to heel and stop breaking the stalemate line. Sevastopol was such a crucial center, I needed Russia to hold it. Italy did great. I put a lot of effort into making sure he didn't try to advance any farther before I was ready to stop him. I think if he'd managed to take Irish or NAO and get fleets into the northern board it'd have been an easy solo with Turkey MIA and Austria struggling with Russia. In the end, it was a fun game. I really like the ER(I) alliance in the swordsman-league gunboat meta. I think it's quite strong. And I enjoyed the endgame trying to hold Italy while make sure everyone pitched in. Looking forward to the next one. |

Oh, I forgot to say why I took Holland and Belgium in the end. I wanted Germany to stop attacking Russia. We needed Russia to hold Sevastopol so badly. I tried to take with a fleet so I couldn't really threaten Germany, but I wanted them to stop breaking the stalemate line. I was *very* surprised on the last play that Germany tried to hand Paris to Italy. |

I did not enjoy this game at all :((
Sorry you didn’t enjoy it.
I am willing to give my analysis if anybody wants it, but I don't won't assume that is the case.
I would like it | |
Ok. I'm going to use the discord channel if there are no objections. |
