26 Jul 19 UTC Weird game!
26 Jul 19 UTC Good game everyone!
26 Jul 19 UTC Congrats to Italy and Turkey for some excellent comebacks.
26 Jul 19 UTC Goddamn it. I had this game if I didn't fuck up 1907 so hard.
26 Jul 19 UTC gg all,

Germany thought you were going to throw it to Austria for a while
26 Jul 19 UTC That was a fun one. Didn't think I would survive after trying to be too clever early on.
26 Jul 19 UTC New Turkey came in and I helped him to hurt Italy, but then he got too big. I got caught up trying to kill off Germany and let Italy and Turkey make too much back.
26 Jul 19 UTC Chaqa you should never have necromanced the Turk
26 Jul 19 UTC Honestly, I wasn't planning on it. Turkey was GONE and I put the order in just for the hell of it, but then a new one took over and I didn't realzie it.
26 Jul 19 UTC Why would you take over that position?
26 Jul 19 UTC Strong belief that Austria would revive me and I would go on to dominate
26 Jul 19 UTC It might have actually worked to break my position if you didn't let me take Venice at the same time
26 Jul 19 UTC Germany confused the hell out of me. Half his orders and decisions made no sense and I couldn't ever anticipate him.
26 Jul 19 UTC My game really fell apart right after I attacked England, I absolutely did not know how to handle that fight.
26 Jul 19 UTC I think my biggest mistake was letting Turkey take Bulgaria while also pulling out of Armenia. I was changing orders left and right and it just got all jumbled.
26 Jul 19 UTC lol, thank you, I guess?
26 Jul 19 UTC would have been a fun one to continue
26 Jul 19 UTC I was doing this on my phone and got overwhelmed, probably should not have done that.
26 Jul 19 UTC Germ you tried to fight Austria and England simultaneously but never really had the units to do so
26 Jul 19 UTC Not sure what you could have done but if I were you would have maybe hoped to try and get some cooperation with England
26 Jul 19 UTC Well I feel disgusted that this was a 5-way draw. But I knew if it went on, Turkey would win, because I figured Italy would never help contain him.

@Italy: why did you attack me so weakly to start the war? lol
26 Jul 19 UTC Tork very stronk. None contain power of Torkye
26 Jul 19 UTC I tried that eventually, my thought was that England would be more likely to work with me if I let Austria kinda grow out of control.

Turkey, I am surprised that you drew that!
26 Jul 19 UTC I'm super annoyed that happened. Old Turkey was completely useless and Jowe was like a phoenix.
26 Jul 19 UTC I am too lenient in taking draws it seems
26 Jul 19 UTC That one German army was the bane of my existence. I had no way to destroy it without risking losing to Turkey or Italy. Sigh.
26 Jul 19 UTC Ataturk Stronk Leader make Torkye great
26 Jul 19 UTC @Austria: I was actually going to build a fleet for what it's worth.

Tried to be cheeky in Trieste in 1902 thinking you would have too easy a go at it with Russia under siege otherwise. Didn't think he'd be so weak you could attack me with impunity anyway. Tried to be cute and not cover the Ionian but you read me.
26 Jul 19 UTC was a mess of a map at the end so it's difficult to see how it would have progressed to be honest. I think Chaqa if you wanted to hem me in, wouldn't be too much trouble. you can retake rumania now and it's hard for me to advance from there
26 Jul 19 UTC I was starting to get tired too. I think my play was really good up to like 1906. i tried to get cute in 1905, thinking Italy would self-bounce in Naples. If I had taken Naples there, whole different game. Many points like that.

Maybe I should have focused on kiling Turkey + Italy, but getting behind the stalemate line seemed important.
26 Jul 19 UTC @Germany I misordered in the spring of 1903. I was thinking hard about my moves and eventually decided to guess that Russia would move GoB to StP with support of Mos and that you would move Swe to GoB. In this case, I should allow you to enter GoB, so I should not support myself to StP. I was thinking about what to do then with my Norwegian army when the timer was almost running out, and decided to support hold Sweden, even though I thought that it would move. I pressed ready. Usually, I then have still time to check for misorders, but not this time... and I saw that I had ordered Norway to MOVE to Sweden! 'Move' and 'support hold' are above each other in the order drop down menu, and I have a new mouse...

I do think that if anything, my misorder improved our position tactically due to Russia moving to Baltic. However, it may have costed me diplomatically. I was very glad that you continued working with me and supported me. It was extra sad when you still stabbed me. ;( When Austria started killing you right after your stab on me, I tried to make up with you and I didn't attack you, and supported your units, for a short while. But it wasn't picked up upon so I kept attacking.

Still, good alliance.

I maybe should not have drawn this game. Turkey had a strong position, sure, but my position was also not too shabby. If Italy and Austria would start cooperating against Turkey, I could kill Germany and have a center lead.
26 Jul 19 UTC Honestly I'm just glad nobody cared enough to play on. Not sure what I was thinking signing up for a live game this late, let alone sum-of-squares. There was still much that could happen.
26 Jul 19 UTC And congrats to all the other players! I was glad that new Turkey and Italy put up a good fight against Austria, and Austria himself has of course played well. I was most scared of him for most of the game. Nice fights with France and Russia, and nice that Germany and I understood each other in the early game.
26 Jul 19 UTC Suffice it to say that I am very, very glad that that draw happened.
26 Jul 19 UTC It is 08:22 in the morning for me. :-)
26 Jul 19 UTC England, you are correct that I didn't pick up on that. whups!
26 Jul 19 UTC I knew I was in big trouble. I made terrible plays like every turn for the last few years, losing centers I shouldn’t have and disbanding units on accident. Oh well.
26 Jul 19 UTC I likewise had very bad play at the end. I honestly thought I was gonna solo for a while. ):
26 Jul 19 UTC Honestly Germany, I never thought that you would solo. :p
26 Jul 19 UTC Hi! I'm sorry if my quality was poor, I'm just learning! I think this is actually my first gun boat game, so yeah! Thank you all for an enjoyable game, even if my downfall was quick :)
26 Jul 19 UTC Hi Russia,
I don't think your quality of play was poor. Everyone decided to gang up on you and I don't think it would have been easy to prevent that... I likely would have been eliminated in your position too.
26 Jul 19 UTC Russia is the worst power in gunboat and often falls quick
26 Jul 19 UTC Wow that sucked for me. It seems like i get teamed in spring 01 whenever I roll gunboat France.
26 Jul 19 UTC From my understanding, London > English is basically the meta opener. And if you open Par > Bur, Mars S Par > Bur, you're going to upset the German. I think there are better openers.

Par-Bur
Mar-Gas
Bre-MAO

I think is a more boilerplate GB France opener that does well, at least according to this thread: http://webdiplomacy.net/contrib/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1504
26 Jul 19 UTC Seems to happen to France in most games recently. Last time I drew France in gunboat, I just accepted that and played F Bre-ENG, A Mar S A Par-Bur.
