02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Very well you shall all be force-fed very expensive vodka
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Who says we need to be forced to drink your expensive vodka and steal your potato
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: You will never steal my potato, it resides on a very tall mantelpiece inside my Moscow estate, only very tall people can reach up there
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: hahahha, love the Obi-Wan quote
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: I see you too are a person of culture
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: we could've been heroes, you and I
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: I should have known the central europeans were plotting to take over
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: I have brought peace, freedom, justice and security to my new empire
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Only a Russian deals in absolutes. Haha
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: You all turned Italy against me!
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: When was Italy with you lol?
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: The shift from the Naples fleet support holding Rome to the Naples fleet moving to a position to attack Venice suggests a change in Italy’s intentions
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: From at least neutrality to conflict
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Plus it was just meant to be a star wars quote lol
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: I think Italy was just scared that he would fall prey to poachers and hooligans :)
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: And lol nice
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Of which he will surely fall prey to again if I am beaten back!
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Given the necessity of his forces for holding you back (beating you back is perhaps too ambitious) I don't think so ;)
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Surprised we don't have more draw votes though
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Well you have changed the premise my dear friend!
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: It’s an exciting game
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Which is more than I can say for some of the other games I’m in at the moment
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Lol tbh any games that are not delayed by missed orders are already exciting at this point
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: ahaha very true
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: My other game is a *week* between moves, and players are still missing orders
02 Aug 19 UTC Autumn, 1909: Seriously, how hard is it take 5 minutes to check on online game once a day?
02 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: I guess if you don't have wifi somewhere but if that's the case I'm not sure how/why sign up to play this in the first place XD
02 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: It is absolutely infuriating
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Dread it, run from it, destiny still arrives
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Italy...wth you doing
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Italy idk what you are thinking but that is gg
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: @France there is not much that could be done even with Italy’s help, I was always going to be able to pick up enough centres in Turkey before losing Venice and Munich
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: You were almost out of centres to pick up in turkey and there was one more (although I agree it was a 50:50 gamble) that you could've lost apart from the two you mentioned I think
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: But yeah sorry guys also, well played Russia
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: In any case what sense does italys move make... even if France were taking Naples it wouldn't change his survival
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Which other one could I have lost?

Obviously in the medium to long term my position wouldnt be sustainable - as you could have put a fleet through Kiel to Baltic - but the plan was to grab 18 in the short term which has worked
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Taking out venice would have made no difference. If you couldn't see that Russia could pick up the centers in Turkey then I guess I don't know what to tell you.
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: 2russia it would've depended on whether you'd seen it coming/how confident you were feeling lol but if you misplayed Barents Sea there was a (somewhat small) chance to get either Norway or Denmark
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Italy your move literally served no one, not even yourself
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: I genuinely don't see what's wrong with trying to grind out a stalemate, people make mistakes, and it's worth playing till the end

Yes turkey was going to fall but there were ways it could've fallen slower or quicker
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: So it effectively turned on me misplaying Barents. I understand your idea, but the odds of misplaying Barents in my situation are - for any player - much less than 50% as you suggested above.

There were absolutely no ways to make Turkey fall slower. By the start of this year I was guaranteed at least 2 builds and possibly threatened with one loss even if Italy had chosen to attack Venice with France. In either case, I end up with 18 or above.

Italy's move does serve his interests. He has no way to tell that I would accept a stalemate, which means the game might have continued to the point where I was defeated and he became vulnerable once more to the depredations of France and Turkey. This way, Italy guarantees survival.
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Supposing France had taken Naples there was still no way for Italy to have lost his last sc unless France for whatever reason were to support you to Rome

Italy could've moved a turn earlier if not to attack Venice, to help hold turkey
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: I had actually suggested a slightly different moveset for turkey but it needed France and Italy to not have moved as they did in sprig 1909
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: 1. I am talking about the long-term following my possible defeat or major reduction in size. Italy would then be vulnerable again.

2. It would be impossible for Italy to move to help Turkey without France moving to Eastern Med which would have allowed me into Greece.

3. Never interrupt your enemies why they are making a mistake! I'm not saying this victory was inevitable, but mistakes in your alliance coordination certainly helped
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: *3. while
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Re 2) I am talking about the turn where France moved back to tunis and Italy moved back to Naples :)
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Even in the case of Italy and France both having their fleets in Turkish waters, the calculus would still have come out as my 6 vs. their 5
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Which should indeed have been slower than 6 v4 :)
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Not really actually. If that was the case I would have put Black Sea into Con instead on Ankara to give me a three way hit on Smyrna. In that scenario, either Smyrna or Greece falls so same timeline to 18.
03 Aug 19 UTC Spring, 1910: Well played anyway though!
