14 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: Game start! For the record, if anyone ever messages me with a question about rules/how to make orders do an action they want, I will respond as a game master and not as England- I will never lie about the rules themselves. |
14 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: Some rules that are often forgotten- 1. Navies on coastal territories cannot convoy. 2. Supporting a move means the supporting territory is adjacent to the destination, not necessarily the start. 3. Support can only be given by a unit that could legally move to the place it is supporting (no using armies to help movements/holds in water, no using fleets to help movements/holds in landlocked areas). |
14 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: Since I know who's who, to be fair- England: Brendan France: Max Italy: Earl Germany: Mikey Austria: Natasha Turkey: Josh Russia: Gorgo |
14 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: And just so everyone knows, the tabs with country labels above global chat is how you get to private chats with all the other leaders...some of you probably already have 'envelope' messages waiting symbols ;) |
14 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: You can see global and the map without being logged in, but you'll need to log in to see private chats and work on orders. |
16 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: All quiet throughout Europe... |
16 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: Nobody has responded to my messages except for you :P |
16 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: :p that makes me feel less like I'm sending ambassadors into the void! |
17 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: 'Save' saves your order; your red, unsaved order choices will turn green once they're successfully saved. 'Ready' means you have finished entering your orders, and are ready to continue to the next turn. If everyone is 'Ready' the game continues right away, speeding up the game. If not everyone has hit 'Ready' and the turn time runs out, all currently 'Saved' orders will be automatically submitted. |
18 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: I'm ready |
18 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: I think it's just three players |
18 Apr 19 UTC | Spring, 1901: We're just waiting on Italy |
19 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Sorry folks. I told Bren before the game started that I was traveling for work and would use the full 5 days to start but should have posted here I guess. I am back. |
19 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: It's all good, Earl. |
19 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: No worries! |
19 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Just to be clear how the next turn works, at the end of Fall, any Centers your units are in will convert to your color, then Winter will immediately happen, where the number of Centers/Dots you have is reconciled with the number of units. If dots > units, you can build at your home centers if they are vacant. If units > dots, you have to destroy units until they're equal, but I don't expect that to happen to anyone Winter 01. |
19 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Btw, I don't like Backstabbr.com's interface as much for new players (outside of sandbox it lets you enter illegal orders), but one great thing you can do in it is create Sandboxes to test how future moves in this game will work; I know I do. |
20 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: FYI, this year is the 60-year anniversary of Diplomacy. |
23 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Winter turn is just for building. |
23 Apr 19 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Wow, England got support from both Germany and France to take Belgium. Now that's diplomacy! |
