27 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 6: Rome has completely checked out, haven't they? I guess we'll be waiting here for 24 hours.
27 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 6: Hey Carthage, I thought you were going to let me do my own thing for the rest of the game. Why you gotta come back over here like that?

Aside: My seven year old has been really interested in ancient Egypt lately. He has been reading some books on it and we spent some time at the Egypt exhibit at the local art museum the other day. So, coincidentally, in school his class filled out these books of things they were thankful for. What toys are you thankful for, what activities, etc. One of the categories was, "What dessert are you thankful for?" His answer: "Egypt". :-)
27 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 6: Just keeping things honest.
27 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 6: Sorry guys, kinda checked out over the holiday weekend. This is why I am a bad fit for these automated games without a GM and/or notification system.

Will try and keep in touch until I die my final death and not keep you all waiting.
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: @ Egypt -- should we join forces against our common enemy? If you attack Syrian Sea, I won't attack Petra. OK?
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: Similarly, Carthage, I have a few choices with my unit and I wish to end the fall still in the game. I can attack Sardinia, Sicilia or Roma and with coordination we can hopefully stymie Greece.
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: To all: you know my true enemy is Carthage. If everyone would stop attacking me, I can mount a proper offensive against the dirty child-sacrificing Baal-worshipers. As Rome would say, Carthago delenda est.
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: Alas, Rome, the only thing we could pull off withou him blocking it is if you help me take Sicilia. I'm up for that if you are, but it sounds like you aren't.
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: And don't listen to that Greek propaganda. He only needs 3 more SCs to win, and he knows Persia is the easiest place to get them!
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: You could support me into Sicilia and he cannot block that, it would be a bounce but it keeps the SC out of his hands.

That allows you to ignore Sardinia as well which frees your LIG fleet to threaten Massila.
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: Okay let's do the bounce
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: @Syria: OK! I'm actually not going to attack Petra either, since Carthage is being a dick. Now I have to use my Sinai army to support Alexandria. Whatever happened to Live and Let Live, Carthage?!
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: Greece tried to sneak in my back door, that's what happened!
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: What you and Greece do in the privacy of your own home doesn't concern me.
28 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: We've all entered orders, let's go!
29 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: Egypt, I'm not hassling you. Why you gotta hassle me?
29 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: @Greece: sorry. I don't have a lot of options.

I missed it: how the hell did that Carthage army wind up in Armenia?
29 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: @Greece: I'll help you get to 18 if it means I can survive till the end of the game? I get a few points if i live till the end, right? Want me to help you get Jerusalem?
29 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: Egypt, no you don't. A solo means all players get 0.
29 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: "how the hell did that Carthage army wind up in Armenia?"

I am asking that question myself. I'm hoping their elephants have finally run out.
29 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: It's sum of squares scoring, so anyone still alive when Greece gets 18 SCs gets at least a few points
29 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 7: As for Armenia, that is merely a demonstration of the pure will of Carthage.
29 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: I just went back over the orders. I was so focused on losing Egypt that I paid no attention to that Carthage army traipsing across Europe.
29 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: From the help: WebDiplomacy has three scoring systems enabled: Draw-Size Scoring, Sum of Squares and Unranked.

In the first two systems, if you win this game by capturing the required supply centres (18 on the Classic map) then you win the entire pot for the game, and receive all those points.
29 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: Okay, apparently I misunderstood that
29 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: I guess we need to start pushing Greece back to force a draw vote out of him
29 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: Very much so, yes.
29 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: Did someone say "Draw"? Why, yes, I'd love to call it a draw!
30 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: I'm actually getting pretty tired playing whack-a-mole with Carthage and Persia. Not to mention Rome is somehow still alive.
30 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: Well, you know, I was going to take him out this turn, and then you went and threatened my coast again!
30 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: Only because you kicked me out of the Libyan Sea.
30 Nov 18 UTC Spring, 8: God, will this Greek Fake News never end? You moved out of that sea all on your own!
30 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 8: Call it a Draw?
30 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 8: I'm up for that!
30 Nov 18 UTC Autumn, 8: I cast my ballot for a draw!
01 Dec 18 UTC Autumn, 8: And once again someone hasn't readied up
01 Dec 18 UTC Autumn, 8: That would be me. I've got 12 more hours, and by the gods I'm going to use them.
01 Dec 18 UTC Autumn, 8: There's no gods on Olympus who can make successful moves just appear.
01 Dec 18 UTC Autumn, 8: Whack-a-mole, I'm telling you. Whack! Whack! Whack!
01 Dec 18 UTC Autumn, 8: Looks like my coin flipped correctly, there!
01 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 9: Hey, Carthage, would you be a gentleman and let me hang on to Thebes? Greece is just one SC from winning. Let me salvage a few points from this fiasco. I'll start a SDMB thread saying what a swell guy you are.
02 Dec 18 UTC Spring, 9: So....clearly no press games really really help the leader. Hard to form coalitions to block a runaway without the secret chatter.
02 Dec 18 UTC Syr supp hold Jer might delay the inevitable
02 Dec 18 UTC Thanks, Horatius/Carthage!
02 Dec 18 UTC Good game, all
02 Dec 18 UTC This was certainly an interesting variant. Much more fleet-heavy than I expected. Y'all certainly didn't make it easy for me to just steamroll over everyone. Persia, in particular, was a really tough nut to crack.

Good game!
02 Dec 18 UTC At least we made you work for it!
02 Dec 18 UTC In all these peregrinations, did anyone find my lost Ark? :-( Carthage, you went all the way around to Armenia, the long way. Did you see anything that looked like an Ark? Maybe a band singling like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEfF8fr5stY
02 Dec 18 UTC Oh, _that_ thing. We sacrificed it to Baal. Did you need it for something?
02 Dec 18 UTC But seriously, the Wandering Army of the North seems to be a feature of this map, I think it's happened in every game I've played so far. One side gets over-extended, cut off, and then rolls across the map until getting trapped and destroyed.
