26 Jul 18 UTC	Autumn, 3: Egypt, here's an explanation for my move into Tacape. This is pretty "meta", and I wanted Greece to see this too, for transparency's sake. In short, I think we miscommunicated in our agreement, and (as I understood it) you've been breaking it from the very beginning, which has led me to secretly side with Greece. We had an agreement in the first or second turn that said: "You can take Leptis, as a sign of good-will from me. And you can take Cyrene the next year. [...] And we set up two rules: 1. neither of us moves ground units towards the other outside our home territories 2. neither of us moves sea units into Tacape or Libyan Sea except by announcing first, and maybe explaining why. If either one of us breaks these rules we know the other is cheating." The Libyan Sea clause was relaxed on further discussion, a further concession from me. Now by this I understood that we both leave the Numidia-Leptis-Cyrene regions un-garrisoned, and we don't move outside our "home" (initial 3) regions towards the other's home region. If you go back to turn 3 ("Spring, 2"), you'll see I moved out of Numidia, and had been expecting you to do the same, i.e. to move back the Leptis unit to Cyrene to capture it. I felt a little foolish that I had left Leptis to you for just a word of promise, and was on my edge whether you would honor the agreement. An early betrayal would very easily cripple me. You can maybe understand my horror when the very next turn you not only left your unit in Leptis, but you moved a second unit towards my home regions. That was a blatant breaking of our agreement in my understanding, on the very next turn after we 'signed' it. Plus what looked like a very cordial border arrangement with Persia. You were both coming for me, and I only had a couple of turns to prepare. I instantly went from 80% with you, to 100% against you, and forged a desperate alliance with Greece, who had made an almost identical peace agreement with Persia. (You can see how that turned out, btw). In our following discussions I was certain that you were only stalling and pretending our agreement was still in place until you got your troops in place, and I was pretending to not realise your deception, to keep you relaxed while I build a response. Now, the last turn has shown me that chances are (I'm still not sure) that you really thought you were following our agreement, and just didn't realise you had broken it... I was sure we were going to bounce in Tacape. How could you not realise you were giving off ALL the wrong signals for someone peaceful?... You probably thought "home regions" means "whatever regions we have at any time", instead of "the initial 3". I've been burned in the past in similar conditions, and it's made me super touchy to signs of betrayal. This whole game is built to reward backstabbing (just check out the box art). You have to be more aware in future matches about the signals you're giving off, and I have to word my rules more clearly I guess. We all learn. :P Now my alliance with Greece stands fully -- I won't be changing gears again. And besides, a 2v2+1 will be a more fair and interesting game than any 3v1 arrangement. We can all relax and stop with the deception, which I strongly dislike, anyway. ...I swear, this game brings out the worst in people, and in this case the people was me. I just wanted to explain, so we don't all go away hating each other. At least Greece maybe gets a chance because of all this debacle.

02 Aug 18 UTC	Autumn, 6: Well, it has been 'quite' fun while this lasted. I probably wouldn't be playing any more of Diplomacy after this, so this will probably be my last game. Although I find the clamping not so fun to play against, but oh well, it's my fault for being a bad diplomat. Still, I would see this till the end. I wanna crush Rome completely before I lose this game

05 Aug 18 UTC	Autumn, 8: Everyone needs to work together to stop Persia from winning. Carthage, I'm moving all my units that way; please focus on sending your units around the right way to contest the solo. Greece, find a way to stop killing yourself and help us draw.

07 Aug 18 UTC	Autumn, 9: Ok, I could pretend and say "let's do this" just to slow you down a little more. But I'll be honest: betraying Greece is not negotiable. And besides, you've broken your word twice so far: once with Greece in the beginning, and once with Egypt in the end... It would bring me no joy to draw like that.
07 Aug 18 UTC	Autumn, 9: It's SOS so the draw size is irrelevant. Greece's army is important to our ability to protect the Italian peninsula and counter attack you. Carthage / Greece, this is a ploy to break us. That green army is integral to us forcing Persia to draw.
07 Aug 18 UTC	Autumn, 9: To be fair, I did not betray Egypt in the end. Egypt and I worked well together for the entire game. When Egypt was getting worried I was getting close to a solo victory, they let me know that they were putting up a defensive line, as well as making peace with Carthage to prepare for a three way draw between the major powers. I agreed, fully knowing I wouldn't be able to win a solo victory. I tried to slow down Egypt's advance, as my troops were slightly out of position with a bounce in Jer, similarly to what Egypt did to me in Cyprus. On the topic of being a good ally and keeping your word, lets not forget when you urged me to attack Egypt in the Fall 3, when you attacked Egypt in Leptis. Putting the past aside, I would love to have a draw between the three major powers. I am offering support into Rav. My units in Rhae and Ven will not be moving further West as I put up my defensive line there.

Heeey, that's a mean little bit of misinformation you snuck in there at the end! :D Autumn 3 was the turn I wrote that long message explaining why I was reluctantly fighting Egypt... I wasn't going to have a semi-apologetic nervous breakdown on global chat while making plots in private chat at the same time.
