14 Aug 18 UTC I cannot even begin to comment without being perceived as nasty in dissecting the horrible choices made by so many players in this one...

But from about 1905 or 1906 a German solo was clear and from that point on, so many bad choices made...

But as the senior guy here, I will /try/ to offer some minor constructive criticism...

Austria: by 1905 England and France are both crippled, Italy holds some power in Iberia, but the only person that has any chance at all to fight Germany on land is RUSSIA. You should not attack into Rumania. Russia was under heavy pressure now north and south, I had to choose. I choose to defend south, in the hopes that everyone else would rally against Germany, they didn't.

At the same time period. Italy, you've done well to take over most of Iberia. do not turn on Austria. You need to reinforce your west. Italy with all reinforcements going towards France and MAO could have secured that region against Germany. It is possible to hold firm in Marseilles, Spain and Portugal with five units in place over there. This would have saved the game, but it needed to be done much earlier.

Italy made a good move towards England, but more should have been sent west.
Also England wasn't a threat, Germany was. Turkey could have just sat there and held, but Austria and Italy continued to press, so what choice did Turkey have?

1906 we see a MASSIVE German solo threat looming and Italy is still trying to Lepanto? come on man... Turkey dislodges East med, and Italy, you're new, so maybe you do not know that you have the option to DISBAND a retreat and REBUILD it.. You should have done this instead of placing a fleet in worthless Syria, you could have built a unit to send against Germany. But you're still supporting Germany, when you should be attacking Germany, and sending all available forces west into France and north into Tyrolia.

Austria is collapsing, so we need to finish him of as he is still helping Germany as well.

Italy goes for Liverpool, mistake as the two English armies could have at least bought us time, and Germany makes his move into Iberia as there are no reinforcements to be seen as Italy seems to think taking Smyrna is somehow important with Germany at 14 SC...?

Russia is still getting his ass kicked by the growing German land force. So I steal Ankara, to disband my fleet and use the SC to maintain a critical army on the front.

But by now, it's too late. Italy never went west, and Germany is going to sweep us all away and without four Italy fleets in Gibraltar, we're dead.
14 Aug 18 UTC All: listen to Tugster. He is a legendary great player, and his advice is very valuable.
14 Aug 18 UTC I should add that a few of my moves were made in the Tugster style of prioritizing position over short term SC grabs. The decision to ignore England after s/he was crippled and focus on Iberia was something I learned from Tugster.
14 Aug 18 UTC GG all. Congratz Germany.

@russia. At the time I attacked you Germany and you were equally large. I just wanted Rumania to help myself into the Balkan and Turkey myself. In hindsight I would have chosen otherwise :)

Congratz to Turkey for not falling apart like England, Italy and France in the west. Solid defense
14 Aug 18 UTC equally large in SC count is not the same thing as equally powerful. if you look at spring of 1905, yes, we had the same SC count, but with a German position vastly superior with France and England and the north half of Russia all crippled.

14 Aug 18 UTC "Turkey, why were you undermining Russia at the end? Not cool."

Nope, in autumn 08 I tried to move an army to Rumania and Galicia. Granted, it probably would not have changed the outcome, but an additional unit could have stalled Germany for a turn or two.
14 Aug 18 UTC well thanks Kubrick, smart play, once he was down to armies only, you just bypass him and make sure you get to Gibraltar first, then come back later and clean out the SC..
