Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): Welcome to the 2018 Gunboat Tournament! You've been placed into seven games. If you're not in seven games, you haven't received each power exactly once, or you feel you've been put in the tournament in error, please contact me as soon as possible. Games have been paused to ensure that nobody misses a phase due to the abnormal nature of the game starts. If you have not voted unpause by Wednesday, May 15th, I will contact you and begin docking from your seven days of allocated pause time in one day increments. If you need a pause, please let me know. Good luck! |

Spring, 1907: Moderator: (bo_sox48): The missing player has returned and the game is now unpaused.
Well played but that definitely shouldn't have ended in a solo. Fucking Germany.
Good game dipperlay. I'm just not sure, if Germany ever heard of the concept of a draw...
I guess, I will refrain from such tournaments in the future. I don't want to deal with that kind of low level play anymore.
It all looked good and then there was a pause and Germany came back with a newfound misunderstanding of how to play diplomacy.
Thanks, Yonni and NoFog. I know this solo isn’t the result of my superior diplomacy tactics :) After fending off the initial Austrian attack, I got lucky crushing him quickly and the Turkish NMR also helped me a lot. I liked my aggressive play, especially in leaving Mos for later and giving up on Stp, instead moving to Mun knowing I would need that as the 18th SC. Little did I know that the map would be so green in the end...
Well, it is actually a very basic observation that you can leave Moscow for later, but for Munich you need German "help". So what you did was pretty straight forward. But sometimes all you have to do is self-evident. Hence you did a good job here. How much green there is in the end is irrevelant to me, if it's over 17. All Germany had to do was to defend Munich and he failed. For example, in Spring 1907, a simple solution would have been to move Kiel to Ruhr and Holland to Kiel and then wait till Turkey is gone. He could even force these movements with his units. |
