14 May 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): Welcome to the 2018 Gunboat Tournament!

You've been placed into seven games. If you're not in seven games, you haven't received each power exactly once, or you feel you've been put in the tournament in error, please contact me as soon as possible.

Games have been paused to ensure that nobody misses a phase due to the abnormal nature of the game starts. If you have not voted unpause by Wednesday, May 15th, I will contact you and begin docking from your seven days of allocated pause time in one day increments. If you need a pause, please let me know.

Good luck!

17 Sep 18 UTC GG, congrats!
17 Sep 18 UTC Congratulations graham.
17 Sep 18 UTC Whelp...I screwed that one up!
17 Sep 18 UTC GG Turkey... and thanks Turkey and England for letting me survive!
17 Sep 18 UTC Thanks guys. I realised halfway through the game I had a shot of making the next round of the tourney but only if I soloed. I had been somewhat indifferently tryingkfor a draw before but decided to push for it (I think I’m on the leaderboard for now as long as others don’t overtake me in games still going on).

I tried juggernaut alliance with Russia, but didn’t work, I wanted to be ally with Italy then but he was a little greedy over Budapest and left me no room to expand.

At the end I had two lucky guesses. Time was running out and England’s fleets would arrive soon (by the way shouldnhave take Italy’s two SCs one move earlier). I got myself into a position where burgundy had to defend Marseille or Munich and I guessed he would defend his own territory. And then the final move was pure luck. Because the fleet would arrive in Baltic next move I had one shot to get Berlin and of course it was hard for England and Germany to coordinate.
Thanks everyone. I hope I sneak into the final after that!
17 Sep 18 UTC Yes! Good guess! I'm surprised Germany didn't support hold Berlin in the last move. How do you know if you will make it to the next round in this tourney? Is there a ranking scheme?
17 Sep 18 UTC There is a thread in the forums
17 Sep 18 UTC I have 2x 3 ways, a 4 way and a solo. I think I may just slip out of the top 14 though
17 Sep 18 UTC 17 games still playing. I figure I’m going to get overtaken but we shall see
17 Sep 18 UTC Well done Turkey!

My personal performance in this tournament has been very lacklustre I think, though I havn't seen the thread. It's been a while since I paid any attention to this game since being eliminated, but I guess I just never really trusted you much after turn 1. I should probably have been more flexible.

It looked like I had a good thing going there on my own for a while though. Oh well.
17 Sep 18 UTC Well, i am happy, as Austria, to see my hostile neighbors, Italy and Russia, well done, just like me.
