14 May 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): Welcome to the 2018 Gunboat Tournament!

You've been placed into seven games. If you're not in seven games, you haven't received each power exactly once, or you feel you've been put in the tournament in error, please contact me as soon as possible.

Games have been paused to ensure that nobody misses a phase due to the abnormal nature of the game starts. If you have not voted unpause by Wednesday, May 15th, I will contact you and begin docking from your seven days of allocated pause time in one day increments. If you need a pause, please let me know.

Good luck!
26 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1902: Moderator: (ghug): As our phishing investigation has concluded, this game is being unpaused. I've reset the phase to give you time to get back up to speed, but feel free to ready up before then.

If you have any questions or concerns, address them to webdipmod@gmail.com, and remember to be careful both here and elsewhere on the internet with your private info.

18 Jul 18 UTC @SpaceDip, congratulations for the solo, but I cannot say it was a good game.

@eturnage, I am sorry we let this outcome arise, but I couldn't understand some of your choices in the end game.
18 Jul 18 UTC Congratulations @SpaceDip.. Good game.

Curupira, when you moved Fleet Baltic to Denmark I thought you were attacking me again. We could have still possibly still stopped the solo if you didn’t quit making moves. Maybe at bit paranoid on my part. Attributable to your earlier choice to attack after I set up a stalemate at Iberia. Turkey had too many fleets. I understand you made a play to solo, but maybe reckless in that it gave Turkey Iberia.

18 Jul 18 UTC Good game Dip! Well played
18 Jul 18 UTC eturnage.

When you left MAO, SPA and POR, in Autumn 1910, the game was nearly lost, but it have be completely gone when you destroyed PIC instead of WAL, first, and NWS instead of BUR, later.

I can't understand you worried about BAL-DEN. If I were going to attack you in the last year, I would have ordered NOR-NWS and HOL-NTS, which I didn't.
18 Jul 18 UTC That's true. In hindsight, I see it. But why did you move to Denmark if you weren't going to attack me? Seems like you would have kept your fleet in Baltic Sea. With regard to the disbands, I calculated Army Picardy wasn't needed to hold Turkey out of Brest and Paris because he had only fleets, and I was trying to signal to you that it would be another mistake to resume your attack on England. Remember, I had no idea if you were a knowledgeable GB player or a newbe at that point.

Also, earlier, when you stabbed me, after you saw me move east to meet your attack on England, you kept pushing it for at least one extra turn. I was prepared to immediately turn around and try to secure the line. Again, I understand going for a solo. But here, I think I made it pretty clear you wouldn't get it as soon as you stabbed me. At that point, a different player might have immediately pulled off the attack, as you eventually did a turn or so later.
18 Jul 18 UTC Also, I never destroyed any fleets. I kept all my fleets.
18 Jul 18 UTC Also, I never destroyed any fleets. I kept all my fleets.
18 Jul 18 UTC I didn't stabbed you. You shouldn't have gone NTS. No reason for a fleet of yours there. My answer was taking you out of there and out of Burgundy, from where you have taken BEL from me several times, and I have retaken in the following.

May I remind you I haven't attacked any of your SC''s a single time.
18 Jul 18 UTC I interpreted the 1909 and 1910 German moves as aggressive and overtly hostile. You were then at 11 centers. I was at 7. With all the English centers you would have had 14, with Paris and Brest, 16. It was a sound stab move, seeking to take advantage of most of the French units holding a stalemate line against the Turk. At this point, I have no chance of a solo at all because of the Turkish fleets. If I did nothing against your moves, you might have achieved a solo instead of the Turk. Under those circumstances, I felt my best move was defense against you. I would do it again. I suspect a lot of GB players would do the same if they were in my circumstances.
18 Jul 18 UTC Honestly shocked that this game ended in a solo. But Good job spacedip
18 Jul 18 UTC When I have moved BAL-DEN, Turkey was already in position to solo and I have withdrown my units from any neighbourhood of yours. So, the balance of risks between the chances of a German solo and the chances of a Turkish solo was far from equilibrated. I would have put all my efforts in stopping Turkey, if I were playing as France.

Anyway, I am sure you have your motivation and I now know your understanding of the strategy in the endgame is very different from mine.

Congratulations again SpaceDip.

I have finished my comments.
18 Jul 18 UTC No way Turkey would have soloed without Por, Spa, and Mar.
18 Jul 18 UTC France, considering that this is a tournament game I feel that you made the worst possible choice. Throwing the solo to turkey when Germany hasn't yet taken anything from you only hurts you.

Essentially you guaranteed that youd get no points. Whereas if you had held your line, and waited to see what Germany was up to, at worst you would've still gotten no points, but at best you would've been in a draw.
18 Jul 18 UTC Germany was attacking me and trying to take my centers in England despite his comments. I only left the stalemate line at Iberia after he forced North Sea and Burgundy. Even then, I returned to a stalemate position. If you want someone to blame, blame Germany. He threw the game by not putting in orders the second to last turn and giving Turkey Munich.
18 Jul 18 UTC I mean you both absolutely fucked up imo but I'm just saying
18 Jul 18 UTC Almost all of these tournament games I have been in have seen everyone gunning for the solo, even when they are at 6 and another dude at 17.
18 Jul 18 UTC Hey, you both. Don't blame me!
I am not the one who messed the game.
1. I hold my line against Turkey till the end.
2. I supported hold SEV til the end.
3. I didn't attack any French SC along all the entire game (except taken back BEL).
4. I didn't give three SC toTurkey for free.
5. Even while I was in BUR, I was SH MAR.

Realize all the points i've made and don't blame me.
18 Jul 18 UTC I said nothing about you.
18 Jul 18 UTC Sorry.
18 Jul 18 UTC I mean you did give up mun at the end for no reason, but I'll concede that turkey was likely to win anyways
18 Jul 18 UTC No prob.
19 Jul 18 UTC Spring 1912
19 Jul 18 UTC What about it
19 Jul 18 UTC He argues that he abandoned the defense line against Turkey because I threatened him moving BAL-DEN.
20 Jul 18 UTC I butt dialed that Spring 1912 post. Sorry. The context is way above.
