13 May 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): Welcome to the 2018 Gunboat Tournament!

You've been placed into seven games. If you're not in seven games, you haven't received each power exactly once, or you feel you've been put in the tournament in error, please contact me as soon as possible.

Games have been paused to ensure that nobody misses a phase due to the abnormal nature of the game starts. If you have not voted unpause by Wednesday, May 15th, I will contact you and begin docking from your seven days of allocated pause time in one day increments. If you need a pause, please let me know.

Good luck!

26 Jul 18 UTC Wow, I want to swear at you both so bad. I almost feel austria deserved the win. I assume austria didn’t vote for a draw otherwise I will be even more angry.

I retreated because Tunis to piedmont is not a stalemate line but MAO to piedmont is. It didn’t make a difference if he took Tunis. You should have trusted that I knew what I was doing especially after I didn’t attack you. You had more than a year to turn around. We could have still had a draw. Did you know it takes 18 to win?

Im guessing you thought this was one of those games you could get more points for more territory but its not. You gained nothing by attacking me.
26 Jul 18 UTC Austria you got incredibly lucky.
26 Jul 18 UTC Well played. Good luck the rest of the way folks
26 Jul 18 UTC Great game everyone!

nah i know how to play the game i just wanted to end it. and based off your reply i have no regrets
26 Jul 18 UTC That makes no sense. Are you playing in this tournament or not? Why did you join? Even if you don’t have a shot I may have gotten to the next round.

If you would’ve helped me set up a stalemate line we could’ve drawn in the same amount of time give or take a year.
27 Jul 18 UTC I wasnt aware there we were on the same team in this gunboat tournament
27 Jul 18 UTC Thats not the point. You threw the game to another player when it was in your interest to draw. Its one of the worst things you can do in a game of Diplomacy especially a tournament.
27 Jul 18 UTC That is something a meta-gamer or multi would do.
27 Jul 18 UTC I’m not accusing you of either because it would be nearly impossible to arrange that in a tournament.
27 Jul 18 UTC It served my interests just fine.

Continuing to complain and harass other players because you lost is an extremely petty thing to do.

Im not accusing you of this because i dont care
27 Jul 18 UTC Im not interested in this fight. I want to apologize to the board for going absentee -- my phone broke at a very inconvenient time. Italy especially; to have stabbed and not be able to solo was making me feel guilty so Im happy for the throw at least on that front. It was a pleasure playing with all of you.
27 Jul 18 UTC You played well teacher - I had a feeling a stab was coming but I never had much help to take you on, and I knew I would lose if I moved on you. I tried to get a hold in Iberia to be needed for a draw but it wasn’t meant to be!
27 Jul 18 UTC You played a solid game teacher and i couldnt see a way around you. you earned it
27 Jul 18 UTC also were you trying to convoy to london. bold strategy
27 Jul 18 UTC yeah too bad you didn't see that move Leader. You could have committed suicide in a much more spectacular way.
28 Jul 18 UTC i mighve of considered it had it lasted another round
28 Jul 18 UTC as it turned out you just looked incompetent!
28 Jul 18 UTC but we know that is not true. you were trying to lose.
28 Jul 18 UTC Rules dont say you have to play to win. I got what i came for. im sorry you didnt
28 Jul 18 UTC Actually fwiw the rules of diplomacy say play to win or to be part of the smallest draw. It’s nhst that they aren’t enforceable on the internet.
28 Jul 18 UTC At the very least don’t play in a tournament if you don’t care about winning or drawing.

Seriously though your logic that you wanted it to end sooner, makes no sense. I’m not trying to harass you. I’m trying to explain reality to you and that other people will be pissed also if you continue with this mindset.

You had complete control over us drawing. If we had lost because Austria gained 18 SCs without your help I would be disappointed but I wouldn’t be angry with you.
28 Jul 18 UTC England: When you say ‘you couldn’t see a way around you.’ I could have held Mid-Atlantic Ocean to Piedmont with the help of one of your fleets and that would have been enough to force a draw.
28 Jul 18 UTC Help me see reality in an online game
28 Jul 18 UTC Listen dude. im done messing with you. I ended the game. Its gone on long enough. It was no longer interesting. Its a game. I havent broken any rules and you cant dictate my priorities in a game. I do not have to make choices that benefit you in this game. Im happy with the outcome.
