13 May 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): Welcome to the 2018 Gunboat Tournament!

You've been placed into seven games. If you're not in seven games, you haven't received each power exactly once, or you feel you've been put in the tournament in error, please contact me as soon as possible.

Games have been paused to ensure that nobody misses a phase due to the abnormal nature of the game starts. If you have not voted unpause by Wednesday, May 15th, I will contact you and begin docking from your seven days of allocated pause time in one day increments. If you need a pause, please let me know.

Good luck!
02 Aug 18 UTC Whew, gg!
02 Aug 18 UTC I don't think I should've been in this, but thanks England! I appreciate it.
02 Aug 18 UTC Shame on you though, Italy..
02 Aug 18 UTC England why did you want to finish of France? I was trying to signal you in for a while.

Sorry France and Russia, you played well but the competition side of it brought out a ruthless side in me
02 Aug 18 UTC Shame? It’s a competition man, you stabbed me plenty of time in the game. You got through anyway though
02 Aug 18 UTC You were support holding me all the time, is what I'm talking about.
02 Aug 18 UTC Well played everybody.
02 Aug 18 UTC Italy, if you wanted to draw without France you should have support one of my hipotetical moves to Spain in order I could understand you wanted I attack France... Or retreat just a little I can attack without yourself.
02 Aug 18 UTC In fact I cast the Draw vote in Autumn 1916, when you take me out of Mid Atlantic, when of course Russia was still alive. No need to make it longer once you know you can not win. Sorry for Russia, I could, t support you land inside.
02 Aug 18 UTC Yes, I was very happy Italy went for my territories himself instead of supporting you in (which made more sense) :) He tried it last turn, which is why I sent 3 emails to the mods to ask for a draw :D
02 Aug 18 UTC I was still worried England might be able to sneak a solo so only supported him in once I knew he couldn’t.

Also France why email the mods, there’s nothing in the rules against eliminating players is there?
02 Aug 18 UTC No, there is not, but once a game is stalemated for 2 years with no centres changing hands, mods investigate whether the game should be drawn.
There's a rule against waiting for NMRs/fatigue to advance your gameplan.
02 Aug 18 UTC Good game; my three neighbours played it pretty well to eliminate me early.
02 Aug 18 UTC Agree with France. This is a turnement and I, ve been in two games where someone has solo because another player did NMR. Not Fair.
02 Aug 18 UTC Yeah true but it does say unless there’s a way to end it. I was hoping England would read my signalling
02 Aug 18 UTC Which one? That you have turned against Russia and in any moment can do the same against Turkey and France, and take the solo for yourself? Jajajaja No amigo, no.
02 Aug 18 UTC Yes, there have been way too many NMRs in this tournament. It'll be different next year.
02 Aug 18 UTC I was deliberately leaving myself open to turkey to try alleviate any worries about me soloing. And I was supporting you into Marseilles from spring 1920 England. But no worries as I said France played well so probably deserved to be in the draw
02 Aug 18 UTC Oh, looking back I remember another thing.. HB, when I gave up Belgium to support you into Kiel, I was really hoping you'd keep it :-/ We could stil have beaten England there, but your suicide meant my downfall as well.
02 Aug 18 UTC What year was that Claesar? Going back to the early game, I think I really misread some plays from you but I need to check them out again. A major mistake I found this morning was that...1901 still, or maybe 1902...instead of going for Holland, I tried to block you from Belgium when you had the advantage. Not sure why I chose that. Had I not made that error, might have really turned things around for me, even with Russia closing in from the east.
02 Aug 18 UTC That also was surprising, yes.

I'm talking about Spring 1907.
02 Aug 18 UTC Ok, in A 1901, I see I moved to Munich to block Bur>Munich. I assumed, incorrectly, that if Bur>Mun, perhaps you'd get greedy and run for Holland, in which case I thought it would be a good idea to be in Belgium to harass you from that side. It was pretty dense of me and stupid in gunboat. England to Ska in A 1901 was pretty offensive. That might have been the first time I saw that.
02 Aug 18 UTC I can't really say more about 1907.
02 Aug 18 UTC Yes, that was aggressive!
02 Aug 18 UTC Well. Instead of fighting for Holland or Belgium, Ska helps getting Sweden...and once you have started fighting against Russia for Norway, having both centers give you 2 more units to get a good position while Germany will have to defend against other powers. And it worked.
03 Aug 18 UTC It sure did; I'll have to remember it.
