13 Aug 18 UTC gg everyone. Especially Germany. You predicted my stab perfectly
13 Aug 18 UTC Also, Balki. I wanted to be friends at the beginning. I just wanted you out of Galicia. I tried asking nicely a few times :(
13 Aug 18 UTC gg
13 Aug 18 UTC Yes good game all. Thank you Austria. You played very well and that stab was very nice. I can't say I didn't get a little lucky lol
13 Aug 18 UTC GG folks. This game was of particular interest to me because, as England, I got off to a great start, and yet got eliminated. Obviously the key decision was whether or not to stab Germany. I ended up deciding to stab him because I felt that was my best shot at going for a solo, and more importantly, I had some assumptions about what France & Russia would do. France was locked up against Germany at the time, & Russia was in defensive mode & had lost STP to me. I thought FOR SURE Russia would take advantage of our dmz in the north and not try to retake his centers--I felt that would end up being suicide for him, giving up his defensive front to do such a thing. Similarly, I thought France would stay entrenched against Germany and an increasingly threatening Italy. I was wrong on both counts--France committed fleets to the north, and Russia made himself vulnerable in the south by retaking STP and then attacking Scandinavia. Obviously in retrospect I shouldn't have stabbed Germany; but then again, I can't second-guess myself too much, as I was right in thinking that if Russia or France made an offensive against me, it would be suicide for them because of their other fronts--they both got eliminated, so my call was right. But my prediction of their behaviors was wrong, so I have to take responsibility for squandering such a great start. ;-) Congrats to the finishers, well played!
13 Aug 18 UTC England, I thought your stab of me sealed your fate, as it left you with having way too many fronts open. prior to the stab me and France weren't fighting a ton, but he had been being very aggressive towards you. While I think you might've had trouble getting a solo (or maybe even staying in the game) by letting me go after france uncontested, i also thought you could not afford to anger me while france was in the process of taking your SCs. it left you with three neighbors who wanted to see you dead, which is never a good prospect. But, your start up north was incredible, and I must admit I expected you to last a lot longer after it. I can't say taking a different course of action would have kept you in the game, since it looks like you got a bit unlucky with Russia decididng he wanted scandinavia back, and France being unwilling to give up the offensive against you. Well played, regardless!
13 Aug 18 UTC I think talk of a solo attempt is a bit too soon there, England :p

I'm just a bit mad that I squandered my best chance at one. I really 1) Didn't want to fight Italy when I did and 2) Didn't expect France to completely abandon his line
13 Aug 18 UTC I gotta say, the happiest I ever was in this game was when Italy stabbed you for one sc :p
13 Aug 18 UTC GG all. This was my last game and without a solo I had no shot at the final, but with one I probably would have had it, so I had to go for it when it looked best for me.
Hadn't I stabbed there, A would have had 3 builds on my doorstep with me only 2, in my mind guaranteed to stab me right after. I was frankly surprised A didn't try Venice there to defend against a stab.
Afterwards, I was in an awkward spot due to R blowing up A's army earlier in spring, leading to 2 builds for A anyway. I do feel like I didn't play optimally to get through (Tri-Ser would have led to a very different game... oh well) but couldn't really hold former Turkey the way things went now.

Oh well, I was glad F decided to just abandon ship after I missed 50/50's multiple times in a row. Pretty sure I was done for if I didn't get a build there, right A ;)?

Anyway, solid cooperation against T, gg.
13 Aug 18 UTC Oh yeah, if France didn't abandon ship you would've been sunk, lol. Not right away - I really wanted to go hard on Germany before he grew too big from everyone else collapsing. I was gonna spend a year or two securing Munich and Berlin before turning on you
