13 May 18 UTC Spring, 1901: Moderator: (ghug): Welcome to the 2018 Gunboat Tournament!

You've been placed into seven games. If you're not in seven games, you haven't received each power exactly once, or you feel you've been put in the tournament in error, please contact me as soon as possible.

Games have been paused to ensure that nobody misses a phase due to the abnormal nature of the game starts. If you have not voted unpause by Wednesday, May 15th, I will contact you and begin docking from your seven days of allocated pause time in one day increments. If you need a pause, please let me know.

Good luck!
21 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1914: Moderator: (ghug): A player has been replaced in this game. Due to the undefined end date of the pause, I'm going to let you all unpause yourselves. If this doesn't happen within a few days, please let me know.
10 Jul 18 UTC Spring, 1914: Moderator: (dargorygel): unpausing... email the mods if you have an issue with this.
05 Aug 18 UTC Well played, France. Just in time...

I'm not sure that Austria's decision to attack Russia was particularly well-judged.
05 Aug 18 UTC Yeah, hindsight is 20/20 but the draw wasn't coming and I had to decide whether to try and make it three of us instead of four. I thought we had enough manpower to keep him out. Apologies for screwing it up!

But well played France.
05 Aug 18 UTC We only had to wait until then end of 1930 for the forced draw...
05 Aug 18 UTC I honestly had completely forgotten that was a thing. Balls.
05 Aug 18 UTC Ha — I just read that 1930 cutoff rule for the first time in Spring 1930. Glad I didn’t dilly dally!

Thanks for letting me sub in. This was a super interesting game.
05 Aug 18 UTC Yeah absolutely. I never play gunboat, so this has been a fascinating learning experience for me!!

Sorry again to Italy anf particularly Russia. I feel like a douche.
05 Aug 18 UTC No problem. It was almost worth it for the succession of correct 50/50 guesses in Tunis and the Tyrrhenian Sea which must have had France grinding his teeth (before it became clear that he had the numbers in the centre).
05 Aug 18 UTC Your Tunis guesses were absolutely infuriating! Well done.

Also, Italy and Austria played really well together under difficult circumstances (a pink Italian peninsula). That was some excellent diplomacy as well.
05 Aug 18 UTC Glad that worked out in the end. Well done, France. Mistakes by all 3 eastern players gave you a thin chance, but you made it happen
