30 Apr 18 UTC Nicely played guys. I lost my chance for solo. Salut to Tugster and Swordsman for outstanding performance.
And sorry sweetwatersam. I did not want to stab you, it just happened.
30 Apr 18 UTC Surprised to see an Italian fleet move to MAO in 1908 with three known Turkish fleets coming into the med. Keep the third fleet in position and turkey never enters Ionian...

with British fleets locked in holding North Sea, extra Italian fleet in MAO is not going to do much in any case. Attack England and Germany overruns England. Defense of England, not needed, so in either case, Italian fleet in MAO is worthless and lack of it holding Ionian, is obviously critical.

And then the fleet sty in MAO for three turns, nothing basically nothing while Turkey advanced.
30 Apr 18 UTC make that five turns sitting in MAO supporting channel which did not need support...?
30 Apr 18 UTC Hey, I’m just happy to share!
01 May 18 UTC I really expected A 3-way draw with Austria/Italy plus either Germany or England until Italy stabbed Austria and also let Turkey creep in.
01 May 18 UTC You know, Germany, I would have been happy to go and fight Italy if you had not relentlessly attacked Norway, just a bit of a back off from Norway, which was my SC, and I would have shifted forces...
01 May 18 UTC I have no reason to doubt your word now Tugster, but there were a lot of reasons for me to keep attacking you and not much to make me think you would stop fighting me.

-you attacked me relentlessly since 1902
- Letting you convoy your army only would have increased your ability to attack me while also defending vs Italy
-my plan was not to take Norway but to retard your advance against me by blocking the convoy
- reading the board, it looked like you would only have attacked Italy if you were attempting a solo win; you couldn’t play for Italy’s elimination. Whatever damage you did to Italy would just make you stronger against me, so I had little reason to want to see you fight Italy and make gains.
- Italy was attacking me and not hinting that he wanted to do otherwise. Italy might have changed his mind if you looked weaker than me (he didn’t, but he could have)
- by attacking you and keeping you at bay, there was a chance Italy or even Russia would attack (which eventually did happen) possibly leading to a breakthrough where I could play for your elimination and a smaller draw
- Italy bungling his attack on Austria and vs Turkey have you a bigger incentive to fear me as your biggest threat and attack me and not Italy. I would have been trying to break Germany if I were in your position.
- if you didn’t want war with me you shouldn’t have built another army, and shouldn’t have tried to convoy it to Norway. You could have convoyed the army vs Italy and guarded Norway with a fleet. I’m not saying I would have done that if I were you, I’m saying that would have communicated a plan to do something other than try to take my centers and hope Italy is busy elsewhere
01 May 18 UTC Ironically, I built the army in Edinburgh as a hedge against an Italian stab. A fleet Edinburgh is worthless to defend Liverpool with. I got that built immediately after Italy first entered MAO, an Italian fleet in MAO is a grave concern for England. I could not risk shifting against him, because Germany would have taken me out. but an army was at least a defense, had Italy stabbed me.

Once the Norway bouncing began, I had no choice but to keep doing it. North Sea was really the critical thing, which required full naval defense, which precluded putting a fleet into Norway. Had I entered Norway with a fleet, that fleet could then be cut and North Sea lost, which of course is the end for England.
01 May 18 UTC After all, it was my SC..
01 May 18 UTC I am just Lucky to sitting here with a draw :)
01 May 18 UTC I’m in no way challenging your decisions Tugster I would have done the same. I’m just explaining why I did not read the situation as on where i should have understood you wanted to attack Italy or should have let you do so.
