22 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Apologies everyone, I was on holiday at sea, and thought I would have sufficient signal. I shouldn;t have rushed my orders when I got ashore...
23 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Who is going to NMR this time?
23 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Italy again. I've sent him a message
25 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Paused until Tuesday
29 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): You're all set
29 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Does anyone remember what's going on?
29 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: Sort of. I vaguely remember you attacking me at a really dumb time and causing us both to do poorly...but I may be mixing up who was who....
29 May 18 UTC Autumn, 1908: =P
01 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Aghhhl
01 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Jesus.
01 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: REALLY.
01 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): I'm searching for a replacement for Italy.
03 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: I would offer to be a definitely unbiased sub for Italy, but something tells me that other players would object. ;)
03 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Awful timing. Italy and I were just about to put our two-way plan into action. The most just solution would be to give me the solo, but I'm willing to compromise and offer a restart. :)
03 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): I'm still searching for a replacement. Will pause and gunboat the game for fairness to the new Italy
05 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Apologies everyone. Still looking for a sub. The player has also not returned.
05 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): New Italy is in! I'm going to reset the phase and get this started once more
05 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Actually, I'm not sure if I can guarantee the phase won't go through the second I unpause. So, what I'm going to do is open up press again and give you a full phase - while paused - to meet and greet the new Italy.

If you wish, you may vote to unpause the game earlier. If not,I will do so manually Wednesday night at 11pm EST. That is, about 37 hours from now.
06 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Hello everyone. Nice to be part of the world cup and play with you guys. Good luck to all :)
06 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Thanks for subbing in.
06 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Not a problem. Who doesn't wanna play in a world cup (sorry Italy) ?? ;)
No offense just kidding. Hopefully you'll get that Italy reference above. I came in just to have some fun and experience new stuff. Hopefully I can learn new things (and maybe negotiate a draw or win?)
06 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: So, I would like to tell the moderator that my moves haven't been readied. I've saved them so the phase won't immediately change after unpausing. In case somebody else wants to change their moves or whatever else.
06 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: Are we off again? Hurrah!

Much appreciated, Italy :)
06 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1909: :)
11 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Hi guys. This will be paired for 5 days. So, unpause Saturday morning, EST.
11 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): *paused
11 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): The game will roll for 2-3 phases starting Saturday, and be paused again for a few days, as a heads up.

The good news is that,by my count, by that point almost everyone will be out of pause time lol.
16 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Alrighty. Unpaused. I have another pause request starting the 19th I believe, so I'll have this run for spring and fall.
18 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: If you 5 push against me in a united fashion, I will lose. If I must, I will continue to fight you all.

However, this game is only half finished. Shall this fight continue as is, I will retreat by necessity. My question for you all is how do you maximize your personal benefit when that happens. When the position allows you to recognize that my solo is not a threat so great that you must trust everyone else 100%, what do you do?

From all of your perspectives, a solo for me is bad. A small draw including you is good. I recognize the current impossibility of a solo and thus must content myself with a draw. I, obviously, would prefer a small draw and would be willing to work with each and every one of you to achieve that.
18 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: I agree to Russia's perspective. However, I wish to negotiate. I just wish to know how many of your centers are you willing to give up in order to secure that 'small draw' which you're talking about. Because if you stay on your current number of centers and let's say three or four countries agree to that small draw, you will certainly ask for centers from the other countries who won't be part of the draw and that ultimately leads you closer to your solo 18.

I don't know if that makes sense since I didn't take any names so as to not offend anyone; moreover, I also don't know if I may or may not be part of the draw given my recent involvement and size. My only question is, how many centers are you willing to give us to convince us that you actually want a draw?
18 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: I think the centers that I give up depend on who is willing to work with me.

For example, if you, Italy would work with me, then I may give up centers like Greece, Serbia, and/or Vienna depending on the situation.
If I worked with Germany, I could see myself giving up Sweden and Norway.
18 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1910: As much as you have to admire Russia's efforts to gain a solo through the small draw nonsense, it can't work. We were a hair's breadth away from a Russian solo mere moments ago, so a single unit swapping sides from an allied nation will tip the balance unless significant concessions are given.

Of course, if significant concessions are given then Russia itself could be removed from the draw, and considering Russia's enthusiasm for draw thinning the allied nations could go about this with no stain on their conscience or character.

Personally, however, I believe the game has run its course. Let's call it a day, and take a well deserved split of the spoils. I have no appetite for brinkmanship, draw thinning, throwing games, or whatever other nonsense threatens to keep us occupied for the next few months.
19 Jun 18 UTC Autumn, 1910: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): As I mentioned before, this game will be paused. I believe I'm unpausing on the 25th.
25 Jun 18 UTC Autumn, 1910: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Alrighty. Unpaused.
30 Jun 18 UTC Spring, 1911: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): I've docked Turkey as day's pause time. This is his second offense. One more and he will be replaced.
02 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Paused for a day
03 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: Moderator: (goldfinger0303): Unpaused
04 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: Congrats to Russia for his solo :)
04 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: I'd say congrats for France and Italy for Russia's solo :)
05 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: A man of no trust I must say. No respect for his own words! I lost whatever little trust I had on Russia for this game.
05 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: I'm sure Russia is devastated to hear it
05 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: I am devastated to hear that I have no respect for my own words.

Italy, I feel like I owe you an explanation.
My team was in a position known formally as not winning. And we did not want to be not winning. So, I did some math and found out that with a three-way draw we would still be not winning (which is bad). So, if a three-way draw is not winning and we want to win, then I guess a three-way draw is bad. Because of my careful analysis, I chose to not be part of a three-way draw. Seem reasonable?
05 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: In all seriousness, a three-way draw would have been possibly acceptable before GB2 ended unexpectedly (It could have been drawn). However, the Polish solo really limited my options.

Lastly, in all honesty, I feel very little regret your lying in a game of diplomacy. I am genuinely apologetic that you are annoyed, as you have a right to be, but I do not regret what I did.
05 Jul 18 UTC Autumn, 1911: I partially agree. But if you did the math, you should have stuck to fighting us. There was no need to build up an entire story, support me first only to stab badly and then explain the math. It's alright to be defensive or diplomatic, surely not alright to not keep your word. You can ask all other countries here, I literally argued with each one of them saying that Russia has promised me word that they won't solo and so I'm moving out to help Russia. I'm fine if you lie, but if that affects the way people think of me, then I'm not okay with it.
06 Jul 18 UTC Spring, 1912: Makes sense to ready up. Don't see much point in drawing things out.
12 Jul 18 UTC Spring, 1913: If everyone else has readied up, I'm sorry for slowing the game down. I am just checking with my team to confirm that I am not a total idiot.

Thanks for your patience. I will ready up ASAP.
12 Jul 18 UTC I haven't readied up. I'm on holiday and only intermittently online
12 Jul 18 UTC It was more for the retreats. Take your time on the moves. Don't worry about it.
13 Jul 18 UTC GG all.
13 Jul 18 UTC Nicely done, Russia. Hope to give you a rematch some day :)
