05 Apr 18 UTC Ask xorxes.
05 Apr 18 UTC Split, you can think what you want but I'm not acting. All I wanted was take StP back and I took Sweden because you were obstructing that. And there was no reason to throw so soon if you thought I was being stupid.
05 Apr 18 UTC It is fun how these "all-star" games can actually end in solos as often as they do.

Here's what I wrote in the notes in 1908
"Man is this a bad gunboat game. Nobody doing anything interesting. Totally defensive. English, Turkish, French moves totally boring, no chance of success. Austria is happy to slowly eat me up using totally unstoppable moves. Can't blame them for that."

I was just so dumbfounded how noone was trying anything interesting, except for maybe Germany. Austria was just taking the slowest possible way of growing all the incremental unstoppable moves. It worked fine, because no one else did anything that would have a chance anywhere down the line.

For example, when Turkey was down to three units, Italy had backed off, and Austria was starting their slow grind on me, Turkey leaves a unit in Armenia even though Russia (fighting for life against Austria) has Sevastopol secure for at least 3 or 4 moves. That Armenia army could have been used for Turkey to support Constantinople, freeing up a fleet to put at least a little pressure on Bulgaria/Greece. Why just sit that army in Armenia. Turkey was just sitting there waiting to die. Similar things can be said of England and France. England just sitting that army there in Wales forever, when England could have been using it to make some gains against Germany. France just running the same exact hopeless moves against Italy for how many turns in a row?

Well done Austria, you sized us up well.
05 Apr 18 UTC Don't put words in my mouth, I sad you were (and are) greedy, not stupid.
05 Apr 18 UTC Being greedy in this context was stupid. You couldn't be eliminated without throwing the game to Austria.
05 Apr 18 UTC "Turkey was just sitting there waiting to die. Similar things can be said of England and France."

I dont share your opinion. Call me crazy, but i really thought this was an easy Draw and i still think so.
05 Apr 18 UTC "Ask xorxes."

I dont think this is a good argument.
05 Apr 18 UTC Russia, the French fleet in Eng was ready to pounce on me if that army left the island. If France had sent that fleet south earlier I might have had a chance to do something interesting, but all I could do with that fleet there is wait for Austria to reach 17.
05 Apr 18 UTC Naked, if you like read xorxes thoughts after our last 50000 game and let us know if you got anything.
05 Apr 18 UTC Ok, i read it, but i already knew that you can gift SC to eliminate others. i also already thought about it but i dont think this is realistic in this position. it would need an awful lot of time to make this happen in this position and you could simply demand other SC like Belgium or Sweden in this process.
05 Apr 18 UTC Besides I don't understand what are you complaining about as you had the worst strategy on the board. Going anywhere but for Egland as France is a pure noob reasoning.
05 Apr 18 UTC Well, Split calling others people strategy noobish with your performance in this game...
I know that that going for Italy is in most cases bad for France but i am a way to good player to only play it superficial.
05 Apr 18 UTC Cspicker, I don’t know what you’re imagining I could have done differently with my army in Armenia. I’m seriously, genuinely saying that I don’t know what I could have done differently that would have mattered. Precisely which turn would you have made a different move and what would it have been and why?
05 Apr 18 UTC Glad you asked! :)
Once I'd taken back Ukraine from Austria in Spring 1907 you could have move Armenia to Ankara, which would have allowed you to safely either attack Aegean Sea, or to move the Con fleet into the Black Sea. That would have given you three units that Austria needed to think about instead of just two.
05 Apr 18 UTC And naked,
TyS-Rom, Tun-Ion
I don't get what you expected to happen there, even once, except stalemate, which was, I assume, your goal?
"Let's wait until Austria gets to 17"
05 Apr 18 UTC "Let's wait until Austria gets to 17"

Yes, that was my goal at this time. If i have nothing better i take a boring 4way Draw all the time.
05 Apr 18 UTC @swordsmann

Turkey is in deep trouble if it faces a lepanto and Russia doesnt fight Austria with full forces. if Austria and Italy are full commited to their alliance and are playing good you stand no chance. but if at least one of them doesnt play good you stand a chance. your goal has to be to deny the weaker of the both, Italy, all gains. Austria takes Bulgaria ? you give it to him with a big smile, knowing that Rumania will come next. Your goal is to hold a critical mass (Con, Ank, Smy) until Italy realizes that Austria gets all the gains and he relies totally on the goodwill of a guy who can next year easily effort war with him. After Italy switches sides Turkeys game start new. So on my opinion in the game you should have defended EM instead of Aegean Sea in autumn 1902. Austria taking Bulgaria was very greedy (which was exactly what you should have hoped for) and defending EM would have punished Italy the most.
05 Apr 18 UTC Boring Yes!
4-way draw? No! :)
05 Apr 18 UTC :)
05 Apr 18 UTC Naked, I agree with your point about the strategy for Turkey. I wrongly predicted that Italy was about to attack Austria that turn.

Cspieker, I take to heart your advice.
