24 Dec 17 UTC Questions/notes of interest:

First turn was the exact same moves as "biggest game of all time". Lucky for me Swordsman deviated from the script in Fall 1901 with swiping of Marseilles.

What was behind Austria's attack of Italy. I'd be interesting in reading about the motivation there.

I can totally see why England would not respond to my alliance invitations (e.g. army build in Berlin followed by shift of fleets to Baltic) because of my size, but given that I didn't understand England's penultimate removal (taking off Heligoland instead of Skag.) Leaving Skag seemed perfect to be a janissary and survive with guaranteed grab of Sweden, and it also freed up a bunch of my forces that would've been tied down by Heligoland. Was this "next level" stuff to try break me up with Russia? If so, why not still go along and take Sweden? This is a fairly minor point, but is of interest to me.
24 Dec 17 UTC I laughed so much at the identical opening to the previous game.

I felt so sad to get betrayed by austria, to whom I showed nothing but love.

I thought we were off to a great start playing central triple, but yoyo guessed horribly wrong against juggernaut and then came after me. I trusted that juggernaut was more than enough to keep austria honest. Good god thats what i get for leaving a center open even one time. Cant ever trust austria.
24 Dec 17 UTC Sorry Swords. I tried to get fancy with my tactics and it ended up not working out at all. I figured if I took a couple centers from you I could hold off long enough for someone to try for a solo.
24 Dec 17 UTC I, on the other hand, cried at the identical opening, especially having to play Russia again. ;)

I think the difference from the previous game is that as Italy you left Austria alone too early, before Turkey was contained. I don't think stabbing you benefitted Austria at all, but if he hadn't stabbed you he was dead anyway, so I suppose he had to try something.
24 Dec 17 UTC Ouch. Russia twice? Russia is a tough road in gunboat.
I thought you (Russia) played really well, and you were really nice to me! :)

There were a couple of times when you could have gambled and destroyed Turkey, but tough to do with an 8-center Germany on your other flank I guess. Not sure how it would've affected the board situation though.
24 Dec 17 UTC Thanks for the compliments chluke. It was definitely lucky for me that you decided to imbalance your forces against Italy instead of me. I also had a really lucky guess bouncing England out of Belgium one turn early in the game. If that would've gone differently that would have changed this game entirely, I'll bet.
24 Dec 17 UTC When you moved Ber-Sil, that closed the door to me ever attacking Turkey. If it wasn't for that I would have considered disbanding something other than the Sev fleet, but with Germany in Silesia. any move against Turkey was suicide. At that point my game was to wait for you to take Iberia so that I was needed to hold War and Mos. And it worked pretty well, except Turkey kept building armies, you gave him a lot of space to eliminate me, he went ballistic after I took Ankara and ended up throwing the game to you.

I still don't understand what Turkey was doing. Even if he thought I was an absolute idiot for "attacking" him, how is throwing the game instread of forcing a 3wd a sane response to someone being an idiot?
24 Dec 17 UTC Unclear to me that he threw it on purpose. Maybe he didn't see the possible responses when I jumped the line because he was titling hard? I don't know.
24 Dec 17 UTC I don't think he threw it on purpose, but he should have realized once I took Ankara that the 2wd was impossible no matter how much space you gave him, and so he should have disbanded an army instead of a fleet, and thus forced the 3wd. Even after that, we still had a stalemate if he had just let me take another one of his centers. Moving Wes-Lyo amounted to a throw, no matter if you had waited longer to take advantage of that.
24 Dec 17 UTC I'll bet the issue was that he never even considered the 2wd for himself, and thus didn't understand what you were doing. He must have thought that you were going for the 2wd, which would be consistent with his post-game comments.
24 Dec 17 UTC How could I ever go for a 2wd when I had no fleets? Italy and Tunis were completely out of my reach, and even if I somehow started building fleets I had to get there before you. His place in the draw was completely guaranteed, the only one that could fear for his life was me, and so giving me a couple of centers for security was all that was needed to force you to vote for a 3wd.
24 Dec 17 UTC Yes I understand that there is no way you could have pulled off the 2wd. josemurc understood this too, but thought you were going for it. That is why he called you the most stupid player ever. Lol. What I don't think he understood is that it would have been slightly possible for him to get the 2wd.
24 Dec 17 UTC ...and that is what you were reacting to by grabbing Ankara.
24 Dec 17 UTC Even if he thought I was going for an impossible 2wd, the right response would have been to let me try and see that it would fail, not to throw the game. At least he should have waited for me to build a fleet before throwing it (which I wouldn't have built anyway).
24 Dec 17 UTC Chance to win all our money back, and then some! Lol ;)

BIGGER Biggest Game of All Time

24 Dec 17 UTC Oof holy crap man I don’t think I can take the stress of that
24 Dec 17 UTC Yea you can, swordsman. You just won a ton of points in the prior game. Plus, we can all play like care-bears this time, to minimize the stress. :D
24 Dec 17 UTC Lol you want me to dump my entire bank in that game? Sure why not :D
24 Dec 17 UTC I would probably get Russia again
24 Dec 17 UTC Haha, love it, Yoyo! We're all hopelessly addicted.

Xorxes, you've been so close with Russia twice now! You should wish for Russia again, because 3rd time is usually the charm ;)
