15 Aug 17 UTC Autumn, 1911: Classic Turkey - Thinks its a WTA Gunboat. Won't make alliances, won't draw the game.
15 Aug 17 UTC Autumn, 1911: Nah, I misclicked into Moscow. I had to make up some kind of cover story.
15 Aug 17 UTC Autumn, 1911: I'd be impressed if he could do it, would hard to even be disappointed over a loss like that.
15 Aug 17 UTC Autumn, 1911: Just end this game france
15 Aug 17 UTC Autumn, 1911: I called it from a mile away. Turkey and Germany allowed this to happen and it's been such a waste of time
15 Aug 17 UTC Autumn, 1911: I would have needed Sev, and a build this turn.

It would have been possible if I could have gotten my fleet into Norway and built another fleet this turn, alongside gains in the east. It was obviously too risky, and mistakes were made.
15 Aug 17 UTC Autumn, 1911: What's a WTA Gunboat?
15 Aug 17 UTC Spring, 1912: Winner take all gunboat, you cannot speak with other players, and you cannot draw the game.
15 Aug 17 UTC Spring, 1912: The winner take all game mode was removed from this site a few years ago.
15 Aug 17 UTC Spring, 1912: Ready when you are Austria.
15 Aug 17 UTC Spring, 1912: By my count i believe that'll do it. Good game all!
15 Aug 17 UTC Spring, 1912: The France giveth and the France taketh away!
15 Aug 17 UTC Oh right, Spring.
16 Aug 17 UTC Good game all.

Austria, I know I trolled you a lot, but I actually think you played a very good game. You came back from the brink of destruction, and you made a very strong case for a 7 way draw. You also completely stifled my ability to win the game when you destroyed your army in Galicia in builds of 1909. My main aim was to break your line and grab a center in the Balkans to prevent France from winning the game - and your allowing France to grab Vienna was a really strong idea.

France, you are truly positively evil. I knew you were toxic from day one, but you worked so hard in chat that I fell for it. Congrats.

Turkey, I'm curious to see if you have any draws on your record.

England, sorry that the WT died. You probably shouldn't have been so aggressive in the early game. That is a large factor that lead to the 'alliance' I formed with France.

Russia, you played well but suffered heavily from early leader syndrome. So badly that I gave you my centers and you still lost. I like to think that the moment that decided this whole game was when I allowed you to take Sweden in 1901. I will not be making that mistake again.

Italy. Nothing to say, he never sent me a coherent message all game.

GG all.
16 Aug 17 UTC "Truly positively evil"

- This made my day. :)
16 Aug 17 UTC Germany- I do ultimately think that you were the main culprit at the end that caused the solo since I am discounting turkey as a real player. You did play a solid game before that and the only suggestion I would have is that you realize that the actual board and the moves that are made are the best indicator of the state that the game is inrather than chat. I did have a pretty porous social game this time around, so I put some of the blame on myself for not giving you more assurance in chat or trying to plead my case. Bottom line is you played pretty well right up until you got a little greedy. There was no need to knock out England and attacking me was honestly baffling.

France- well played. Only solace I can take is that I was one of the few that saw your true intentions

Turkey- not much to say. You are either very emotional or you have no care about how you do in the game. Either way not good things for a diplo player.

England- you seemed like a good player from my few convos with you, just got bested by France who played a strong overall game

Italy- our initial stabs made our relationship very tense over the rest of the game, but once you saw I was honest with you and went through with an attack with Russia you shouldn't have attacked me again. It gave you no benefit and france was obviously going to be a problem and you could have split much of turkey with me. But I can understand not trusting me after our rocky start.

Russia- again I am sorry for the way that it went down. It was definitely a case of early leader syndrome and I really stabbed because I didn't see a path to defeating Italy that wouldn't take forever. We had a long chat about all this so no point rehashing it here. Your only real flaw was trusting me... you played very well otherwise
16 Aug 17 UTC Since we seem to be doing an AAR ..

This was am unusual game for me as i had a lot of sincere (at the time) offers of alliance but almost every time without fail my allies got spooked and turned on me.

Germany you were intended to be my ride-or-die but then you stabbed me right after I helped you (a common theme in this game) and then you started making claims of side alliances with the person I was in direct conflict with (Austria) and supported a draw campaign by that same person putting stress between us. It was around that time i lost all confidence in you and felt if i didn't make the move you were going to start calling for the 4WD as soon as Russia and England were out, and while i could have lived with a 3WD but anything more was just never going to cut it. Austria is absolutely right, you making moves on Moscow and going for Stp rather then leveraging England to attack me was a bad call. You probably could have even cut a deal with England to go to Norway while you took Stp, it's not like he needed the build. You and Turkey's unwavering loyalty (or maybe unwavering hatred to Austria) is very much what helped make this solo happen.

People criticize Turkey's attitude, but Austria certainly did continue his attack on him far longer then he ought to have which likely contributed to it being an unworkable relationship in the final hours. I can't claim i would have played exactly like Turkey, but i'm certainly closer on the spectrum to his mentality then the whole 7WD in i think 1906 thing.

Austria warnings i guess in a way were correct, but I kinda think the crying wolf was primarily just to distract from him.

Was a big fan of England, sorry we couldn't have reconciled but as i said it was ride-or-die early on with Germany (based reasons i can't even remember anymore). I briefly considered the WT, but too many red flags to try to make it work.

Russia was briefly my backup plan, but then he lost his mind and started getting paranoid over nothing. Which made Austria my backup plan and then he got spooked about an alliance with me and turned on me. I didn't think i was being overtly intimidating early on but perhaps this game has taught me i need to soften image. But much like Germany calling me positively evil, you calling me a c*nt also put a smile on my face. I like your bluntness.

Italy, you seemed a good guy but as i was looking to invest in a relationship with Austria for long term gains i just needed to honour some requests. Please let the guy know i never tipped you off back in 01 so he can put that conspiracy theory to rest.

But when all is said and done I would argue the most relevant choice that lead to this loss was inadvertently selecting a game with me in it to begin with. Been fun all!

Your buddy,

16 Aug 17 UTC I do have a couple of draws from games i played with friends.
I don't care a lot about wether i draw or lose, so if that makes me a bad Diplomacy player, so be it. I'm having fun, which is the most important thing for me.
Thanks for the help/advice France, learned a lot this game.
16 Aug 17 UTC gg ya'll.
16 Aug 17 UTC Only reason I continued to attack turkey was he would just tell me he was going to help France and wasn't going to work with me hahah. But whatever. Gg everyone
