Private Spring 2017 CL Tiebreak: captainmeme vs Split
1 days /phase (normal)
Pot: 10 D - Autumn, 1907, Finished
Game won by SplitDiplomat (99789 D)
24 Jun 17 UTC Autumn, 1906: Ouch. That's game.
24 Jun 17 UTC Spring, 1907: Boh --> Gal ??? Did you want to move it to Silesia?
24 Jun 17 UTC Spring, 1907: Well played. I hope you do well in the rest of the tournament!
24 Jun 17 UTC Spring, 1907: I figured Sil-Gal was most likely. It gets around all obvious moves, and it places your unit deep inside enemy lines with control over Vie, Bud, Rum, War and with Mos and Sev in easy reach.
24 Jun 17 UTC You gamble too much, that's why I moved too Warsaw. The same as you left me Venice opened at the start of the match. I don't prefer the style of play.
24 Jun 17 UTC Thanks for the wishes. These were three very interesting games. See you!
24 Jun 17 UTC I don't think I ever left Venice open to you?

But yeah, you're right - if there is a play that could gain me a lot or be a complete disaster, I go for it much more often than other people tend to. I do tend to get the guesses right a lot of the time, so I figure it's usually worthwhile. Didn't work out so well here, but ah well - I had a good run :)

I'd like to see all the people in the forum saying 'Austria >>>>> France' have a look at this set. France is pretty damn strong in the hands of good players.
24 Jun 17 UTC *Trieste* sorry,no Venice.
24 Jun 17 UTC I think Austria is stronger too. I made a bunch of stupid moves at the start of my austrian game, shouldn't have left you through the lines. You had a lot of mistakes in both Austrias as well and if it plays properly Austria is advantaged.
25 Jun 17 UTC I feel like leaving Tri open in A03 was pretty essential. If I'd have played it completely safe I'd have a total of one build (that's with Gal-Vie, Vie-Tri, Rom S Ven) and the other defence (Ven-Tri, Vie-Tri) was the obvious one, so it was overwhelmingly likely you'd go for something that countered that - attacking Ven or supporting Ven back to Tri.

My biggest regret in this entire game is probably that I didn't move Vie-Boh that phase instead of keeping it covering the HSC, but then that's with the benefit of hindsight :)

I believe France is stronger in the hands of a good player. I guess we'll see more as the tournament progresses, though - my experience mainly comes from GMing the 1v1 Showdown and watching those games, which had a much lower bar to entry than this one.
