17 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: Moderator: (peterwiggin): Oh, the game is already paused... I'm good at this reading thing.
18 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: So, which was the mod that banned meme? I feel he deserves a little public shaming.
18 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: HELLENIC RIOT
18 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: Do you know what for? It seems bizarre as hell. Are we sure this isn't a drunken stunt?
18 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: For muting him on the mafia discord server
18 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: I'm good for unpausing now. Many thanks!
18 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: How do you do lawyering things and have time for dip? Ogion I just got accepted into law school but I don't know if I should take it or not. I'm having doubts,, what do you think? As a lawyer.. Is your life fulfilling?
18 Apr 17 UTC Autumn, 1903: It is, actually.
25 Apr 17 UTC Spring, 1904: Smells like a 4wd
25 Apr 17 UTC Spring, 1904: Or German solo
25 Apr 17 UTC Spring, 1904: It looks like a 3wd to me. But that might be because I dislike 4wds.
25 Apr 17 UTC Spring, 1904: Rip England
25 Apr 17 UTC Spring, 1904: Okay, I'll tap Spain and support you into Mar. Let's get this over with quickly.
03 May 17 UTC Spring, 1905: Thanks for playing Gen
05 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'm on holiday, so I will only be able to send press twice a day now. Don't stop messaging me!
07 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Actually, folks, can I get a pause starting tomorrow for a couple of days?
07 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Yeah yo
07 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Voted. We can also just draw this thing. I feel like only Ezio is still committed to this thing. I've learned some interesting things!
07 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Gg MF
07 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Gg guys.
07 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: 5 way draw? Sad.
07 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Sad times indeed.
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'd take a 5-way.
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Answering ATC's question:

The best thing I did in 1901 was fully committing south and taking Belgium from the North Sea. I know I received a fair amount of flak for it because I left Norway open, but we can see that Russia left that open for me so I judged the situation correctly. It allowed us (E/G) to have three units on Picardy as we went into 1902, and regardless of how well you feel that advantage was used, it was a good thing to have.

The best thing I/A did (whichever of them it was) was convincing Turkey to Pitchfork. This was the perfect Key Lepanto not just because of the I/A trust, but because they manipulated the R/T situation to put them in a perfect position going forward.
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Can you call it an A/I when Italy is hogging all of the centers?
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Well, it was definitely an A/I in 1901.
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: ATC, for me I super liked being able to force Ogion into a key lepanto although he wasn't happy at first :p that was also just extremely fun.

I thought Turkey was also doing great until he built two fleets

Also I value your commentary but we can't exactly stab based on what you say, I don't think any commentary for any of these games works to function like that - it's more of a "here's what you maybe should have tactfully done" is it not? Rather than "do what I tell you in this thread"
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: I've learned from the commentary and it would be sad if you stopped just because we're not following the advice in this very game!
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Which one of us is Slytherin and which is Gryffindor, ATC?
08 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: I did a good job working with Austria to handle the Turkish stab (wasn't particularly difficult) and negotiating my way into Sweden (also not too hard thanks to the Turkish stab).
I think England had a spectacular 1901. Taking BRE with an army while taking BEL is excellent. He also ensured he had no trouble in the North.
09 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: I didn't really dó anything right in Spring 1901.. France told me immediately he'd support himself into Bur. I tried very hard to convince him to reconsider, but failed. He remained adamant, but otherwise didn't send much press.

Fortunately, England was very chatty and eventually said he would DMZ stab France in ECh if I would move into Bur. Done! But not something I can be credited for, as it was his idea.

Russia asked me for Sweden, and I said I would allow him in if he'd support me in case of an English attack. Unless I could think of something better (i.e. more solid), but I failed come up with any other request. After I supported him in, he promptly forgot his promise and never ceased bugging me about helping him into Norway.

The one thing I did do right though, was in A01. England and I disagreed completely on what to do about Sweden and Belgium. It seemed like the issue would drive us apart, but I managed to come up with a very convoluted solution to this problem and we've been solid allies since.
09 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: The only thing that I didn't completely screw up in 1901 was establishing a good relationship with Italy, which proved to be useful later on. I tip my cap to England, who guessed right and had me played perfectly. Looking back, I probably trusted Germany too much that year, which is funny because usually I'm a rather paranoid player, but in this instance I wasn't, and it came back to bite me.
09 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Trust me? As I recall our communication:
- Hey France, perhaps we could work together! Yada yada, DMZ Bur?
-- I'm supporting myself into Bur.
- That would be a somewhat hostile move towards me. Yada yada. Could you reconsider?
-- I'm supporting myself into Bur.
- I know you're a gunboat player where that move is typical, but that's really uncommon in Press games. Could you consider other options?
-- I can't afford having you in Bur. I'm supporting myself in.
- A bounce would also prevent me from entering Bur. Could you chat with a professor about your intended move?

*No reply for 8 hours; France supports himself into Bur*

At that point, we were tentatively at war.
10 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Well, I haven't been in the driving seat since spring 1901 but have managed a good relationship with Italy nonetheless. Frankly I think the best thing I did in 1901 was not die.
11 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Getting Russian support into Bulgaria was pretty cool, but England won 1901

Oh, and I'm ready to unpause. Mom and baby are doing great!
11 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Yaaay
11 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Yep! I am sitting outside the hospital waiting for them to go home!
11 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: Ahhhhhhh baby Ogion <3 what gender?!
11 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: I'd ready up but I'm too drunk rn
11 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1905: A little girl. Forum post coming
15 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1906: Oh we're waiting on my draw vote.
15 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1906: I'm happy drawing
15 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1906: Not sure how I signed onto another game without hdv
15 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1906: I'm hearing all arguments in favor of drawing.
15 May 17 UTC Autumn, 1906: Well, mostly it is because several of us have lost steam. Certainly, we aren't at a full completion by a long shot, but it seems the study group aspect has peetered out so it isn't super clear there is interest in continuing.
19 May 17 UTC <3 you Ogion I'm sorry for that last second stab
19 May 17 UTC zzz
19 May 17 UTC gg all
19 May 17 UTC gg!
And my apologies for pushing the draw.
20 May 17 UTC EOG:

France told me immediately he'd support himself into Bur. I tried very hard to convince him to reconsider, but failed. He remained adamant, but otherwise didn't send much press.

Fortunately, England was very chatty and eventually said he would DMZ stab France in ECh if I would move into Bur. Done!

Russia asked me for Sweden, and I said I would allow him in if he'd support me in case of an English attack. Unless I could think of something better (i.e. more solid), but I failed come up with any other request. After I supported him in, he promptly forgot his promise and never ceased bugging me about helping him into Norway.

The one thing I did do right, was in A01. England and I disagreed completely on what to do about Sweden and Belgium. It seemed like the issue would drive us apart, but I managed to come up with a very convoluted solution to this problem and we've been solid allies since. The idea was that if France entered Bur, I would get my way. At that point, I was still trying my very best to convince France not to take Bur, but that failed so England had to take Belgium and I didn't have to bounce Russia out of Sweden (my preference).

In 1902 discussions with Italy started over Marseilles, as it was clear we would crush France if nothing changed. She opened with being very keen on England NOT occupying the province, so I thought I could get her to support me in. It was a ruse and she was only interested in taking it for herself (or keeping France in). After a lot of futile messages, I agreed to support her in if she promised me ANYTHING in return. Support in some wild scenario, or whatever. There are no free rides. She continued to pretend to not understand what I was saying, so that deal never materialised.

All moves in S02 were agreed with England, except Ber-Sil. It was agreed to go to Mun, but I didn't feel it. I decided to meddle in the East instead and went to Silesia. The profs dislike this move, but it's my style. I think I managed to sell it as a misorder well enough. It sort-of worked out, as it made Russia and Austria vie for my support in their conflict (though it also upset both). My plan was to maintain the status quo there, so I could waltz in later to establish a foothold across the stalemate line. Then I would probably stab England for a chance to win.

In A04 I however did misorder horribly. I had Pru-Liv, Sil-Pru, Boh S Mun-Sil, but changed that tentatively when Austria offered to support me into Gal. I then missed the deadline and apparently made a mistake in my moves as well.
At that point, I realised a solo was outside of my grasp and lost all interest in the game so I started pushing for a draw.
