19 Dec 16 UTC Good game guys
19 Dec 16 UTC woohooo, I survived!! bad stab, Germany, Bad stab.
19 Dec 16 UTC Congrats Turkey!
France, England, what were you thinking?
19 Dec 16 UTC thank you. you missed a million chances for a draw. everyone was a total noob except germany. boring
19 Dec 16 UTC We could have forced a draw. Did you intentionally throw the game to get back at me?
19 Dec 16 UTC I wondered the same about France especially. He seemed to be working to avoid a draw and give the game to Turkey.
19 Dec 16 UTC I was watching too many youtube videos before I realized I joined this game lol
19 Dec 16 UTC I was all good until you decided to break the gunboat alliance you created, Germany..
19 Dec 16 UTC Turkey, it was rather boring. Very one sided with Russia missing - I am sorry we didn't cancel.
19 Dec 16 UTC I have no idea what you guys are talking about, forcing a draw.. I had Italy and Germany working on me, and England in short order, so if you think I somehow let turkey win, you noticed I voted for a draw and a cancel.
19 Dec 16 UTC Turkey, it was rather boring. Very one sided with Russia missing - I am sorry we didn't cancel.
19 Dec 16 UTC yeah. turkey is always formidable in gunboat, so when there's russia or austria missing, turkey will rule the board.
19 Dec 16 UTC I did so for two reasons. First you would not stop attacking Italy, who was our only hope to stop T. Secondly, I needed an army for the Turkish advance. I later retreated from you and yielded everything and more back.
19 Dec 16 UTC France, only you could cover the western med. Turkey only got into Germany because England took Denmark and left Germany without enough units to support himself and you didn't support Munich.
19 Dec 16 UTC well what was I supposed to do? not play the game?
19 Dec 16 UTC France, Google "diplomacy stalemate lines". We could have forced a draw if you loaded fleets in the med, and supported my hold in Munich.
19 Dec 16 UTC notice that I didn't support Munich, AFTER Germany decided to attack france
19 Dec 16 UTC I don't necessarily play to draw.. maybe the game should have had messaging if that was the intended effect.
19 Dec 16 UTC he'll learn
19 Dec 16 UTC France, what marks good players is their ability to let go of the local fights they are in when it comes time to ally against a solo. Both England and Germany were trying to do that, but you did not seem to notice (too caught up in your fights with them). They were trying to organize a defense against Turkey for a draw.
19 Dec 16 UTC Gunboat is different (no messages) and the intent (win or draw) still the same. A survive is better than eliminated (so I have no grounds to criticize). Just hoping to help generate learning and thereby better games.
19 Dec 16 UTC yeah, kind of hard to notice all that when your on the defense..
19 Dec 16 UTC it is. much easier from the sidelines (where i found myself very early on!)
19 Dec 16 UTC feedback is good, where did I go wrong, or what could I have done differently and when?
19 Dec 16 UTC France: Spring 1906 was probably the time you should have done something to stop the solo. You can see that Germany is moving away from you to defend his eastern border. He has a fleet in Baltic to support Berlin, and armies in Kiel and Ruhr to support Munich. With that he can hold Turkey for ever north of Switz (draw line). As long as England turns round and supports St. P, Turkey cannot get any further up north. With those centers, Turkey needs another four for a win. He will get Rome, Naples and Tunis. So you need to keep him out of Spain and Marseilles to stop a solo.

You (and England) will need fleets in MAO (with support from Brest, Eng, NAO or Irish) and armies or fleets in Por and Spain, Marseilles and Gas or Bur. That way, even with Turkey in North Africa, Western Med, Gulf of Lyons and Pie, he will not be able to get the 18th center.

So heading south with everything you have would have saved you then. Bur -> Mar, Pic -> Par, Bel -> Bur. And Irish Sea fleet to MAO the other to Brest.

Ideally England would have moved out of Denmark (as you would with Bel) to leave Germany enough centers to support the armies he needs.

You probably interpreted England's move to MAO as an attack on you, when in fact he was trying to lead the way to defend against the solo.
19 Dec 16 UTC Both England and Germany had stopped attacking you by Spring 1905.
19 Dec 16 UTC I did in act interpret the MAO move to be an attack. Thanks for the feedback, I wasn't even thinking along those lines.
