05 Sep 16 UTC GGWP guys. Sorry about not supporting you Russia, I figured Germany might do something different and I could slip into Sil.
05 Sep 16 UTC Which was a shame because I guess I could've got Mosc if I hadn't :(
05 Sep 16 UTC Curious why you didn't keep me alive and push me into the mid Atlantic, as I offered? Then again, I almost never gunboat, so maybe I sent the wrong messages.
05 Sep 16 UTC At that point (when I took Tun) I figured I needed the build against Russia, and I couldn't actually get you into MAO because France had the fleet in ECh along with all the units in Iberia. I made a huge mistake the year before though knocking you out of TyS - I figured you'd be going into Spain with the fleet instead of the army, and stopping you from convoying ended up securing France's defenses, completely stopping me from getting my 18th anywhere over there.

Sorry about that.
05 Sep 16 UTC Yeah, I remember that. Quite all right; no hard feelings. Maybe next time we can talk about it first. You ever play this game called Diplomacy? It'sa lot like gunboat, but even more intense.
05 Sep 16 UTC I tried Diplomacy once, found out I was terrible at it, so now I just win gunboats instead :D
05 Sep 16 UTC Win? This clearly says "drawn" ;)
05 Sep 16 UTC gg, everyone! Some good names in this one.

Russia, what was with the constant attack on Sweden? Between that and the army disband I had no idea what you were up to.
05 Sep 16 UTC I can dream of greater things, ATC :'(

MKE - Can I ask what you were thinking with that opening? I'm not sure what it was meant to accomplish.
05 Sep 16 UTC I was hoping Austria would hedgehog and bounce Rome, so I could convoy to Tunis and head west. Then I guessed wrong on France's defense of Marseilles, so all I could do was all him for peace and go help Austria, but too late, I guess.
05 Sep 16 UTC In S03 Turkey was really taking off and I wanted to covey through the Black Sea. Unfortunately there was an Italian army pirating around! I wanted some press for this game really badly.
05 Sep 16 UTC I had nothing else to live for.
05 Sep 16 UTC That army was hilarious.
05 Sep 16 UTC I thought so too.
05 Sep 16 UTC Good game all.

Italy, I almost sent a fleet into Tyrrhenian Sea in Spring 1903 to help you fight off Turkey. I decided not to because 1) it would probably confuse the issue, you might have thought I was joining the attack, and 2) you had just attacked me, so I decided to leave you alone to fight a losing battle. I figured you'd give me just enough time to make some gains in the north before collapsing, which worked out perfectly. Thanks for trying the convoy to Spain instead of moving your fleet in, could have really screwed up my plan ;)

Germany and Russia, you were breaking my balls with that late-game fighting. I was just sitting on the stalemate line, waiting. Hilarious.

Turkey, marvelous work, of course.

England, sorry about the stab :(

All in all I played this one somewhat conservatively and a draw is the best I could have hoped for.

Oh, and that Italian army in Rumania was full of heroes.
05 Sep 16 UTC :(
05 Sep 16 UTC Germany, I consider the ancestral Russian claims on Sweden to currently have legal force. Your illegal occupation can only last so long.
05 Sep 16 UTC Does anyone here mind if I make this game the first commentary on my Diplomacy youtube channel? I was planning to start a Gunboat commentary series and it's always nice to start out with a game I did decently well in :D
05 Sep 16 UTC I don't mind at all. For posterity I'd like to note that this is my second gunboat game ever, which might explain things.
07 Sep 16 UTC Hello people.

I know it's tricky to be an Austria in a Goonblat, but how badly did I really do? It seems to me that Turkey and Russia were hell-bent on attacking me whatever I chose, so I didn't have much tactical opportunity... Right?
07 Sep 16 UTC I could've Lepanto'd with you sooner. I think you did fine.
07 Sep 16 UTC Heh, yeah, only so much AH can do with the juggernaut bearing down and no help.
07 Sep 16 UTC I helped eventually.
07 Sep 16 UTC Agreed, I don't think there's much you could have done. Austria's a nation where in gunboat if everyone's out to get you, you just die.

I wasn't really a fan of your opening though, I feel like you can't afford not to have two units on Greece in F01 as Austria, Turkey will more often than not bounce you there.
07 Sep 16 UTC Also, the miscommunication between A/I over support to Greece in A02 hurt you both a lot. That's not something you really could have helped, though, it was a guessing game more than anything.
