15 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1903: My mom was born in '72. :)
15 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1903: LMAO
Italy is not, and has never been, in Civil Disorder.
Carry on. :-)
15 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1903: They're not in disorder, they're just enjoying their espresso!
15 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1903: :-O
15 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1903: Jon Snow is that you?
21 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: What a dreadfully boring and well-coordinated game. Kudos to the members of the WT for committing to the alliance and sticking to it.
21 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Lets hope we finish it properly. If we do it might be some kind of record!
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: If we don't, I'll receive two smug I-Told-You-Sos.
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: You're either getting I told you sos or comments about an incredibly poorly played game. Playing to not lose would deserve no better than a C in a school of war, that's for sure
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Well luckily I play this game over a cigarette and a drink, not to be graded.
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Or to win apparently.
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Sometimes. Sometimes not.
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: I've certainly seen Western Triples sweep the board before; I just think it's a lame alliance lol, particularly if there is clearly turmoil within the east after 1901. I'll take the blame, though. I let Italy talk me into walking into Venice when I should have been trying to keep him more afloat. I also should have been directing traffic in the Mediterranean more effectively.

Oh well, though. Won't be the first game I've lost, won't be the last. I still think this game would be a hell of a lot more interesting if one of the Western powers would work with me, but c'est la vie.
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Yep. I am trying to figure out why the western triple bugs me so much, and I think it is because diplomacy works because of the tension between only having one winner and needing to collaborate to make progress, which makes for intrigue. Players who simply decide not to win removes a lot of the interest

That said I think we will find this game will get interesting even if Austria and I aren't around to be part of it.

After all, only one of the three has any real prospect for serious growth going forward and France has two builds that neither England nor Germany have any possible response to
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: That's rather fair, but I don't agree with you. Playing Diplomacy in such a way where you expect to get stabbed is so dreadfully repetitive. After countless games of knowing who to coddle and who to ignore, a game in which an alliance actually lasts is so incredibly refreshing. Where you say it removes interest, I'd say it adds.

Sure, France or England may still shove a knife in my back but that's neither here nor there. It's lasted thus far, I certainly won't be the one to spoil it.

I recognize that despite losing sowing discontent among an alliance can be quite fun, but parading an eternally subjective idea like "fun" or "interesting" around as objective fact is.. Well, uninterestingly self important. We are, of course, entitled to our own opinions. That doesn't mean we share them. :)
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: I have a feeling I know who England is. I've seen this movie before
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: My, God, can Russia and I not bitch about how poorly we played without getting some high falutin response about how our ideals don't matter?

Of course our opinion about the WT is an opinion. I don't think either of us are debating the fact that all three of you have played exceptionally well. It's very unusual for a WT to last this long, and I have already commended you for sticking to it for so long.

I just honestly hate the WT; it's an alliance that I think I played once (maybe twice) and immediately decided I would never play it again (and it seems like Russia suffers from a similar mindset) for a variety of reasons, that I don't really need to go into because as you have insufferably pointed out--it's just my opinion anyway.

But, if I can use global press to possibly sway someone's opinion, I'm going to do so. And, if France wanted to solo, he certainly could. I'm very curious to see what happens as this game continues.
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Two points :
First, this is the first time I've actually played the WT. Seems just as powerful as the juggernaut, I'll definitely keep an eye out for it when playing an Eastern power in the future
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Second: Austria's shape is hilarious. Reminds me if a gerrymandered congressional district
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: And, now I feel like an ass. My apologies, it's been a rough day, and I'll keep my tongue behind my teeth.
22 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1905: Oh it is far more powerful than the juggernaut.

But yes, it is remarkable it has held together so long.
22 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: Y'all also have my apologies. Tone is difficult to divine with text, so I may have assumed there was condescension where there was none. Someone mentioned long, early days earlier and I have no doubt those play a factor haha. I start my day bright and early at 5am crawling through rat shit filled crawlspaces. I guess it makes a guy grumpy. :P

22 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: What is it you do exactly? Exploring ancient catacombs? :)
22 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: Yeah, that's definitely it! I'm certainly not an exterminator, nope.
22 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: Well that was a fun read. You guys had a lot of fun while I was asleep!
Shame you all made up at the end, I was getting ready to wade in! ;)
22 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: btw, who am I Russia?
22 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: A fearless sidekick to a mummy exterminator, of course! ;)
22 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: :)

I really do hope our WT stays together. I will be going along with it until the end. Mainly for the novelty of a WT actually sticking it out to the end and not falling apart.
I think we will deserve some kind of award if we do manage!
23 May 16 UTC Spring, 1906: Is the mummy exterminator gonna NMR?? I guess he got lost in the pyramid
23 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: Right?
23 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: My phone died, sorry about that.
24 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: Sorry guys, I'm going to let this one go to phase because I'm on a brief trip. Hope nobody minds too much!
24 May 16 UTC Autumn, 1906: Completely understandable!
01 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1908: Geez, I feel very violated Russia haha. You don't even support hold me in the fall, and then you take away the one spot I could go too lol. Oh well, good game all. I'm quite curious to see where this game ends up.
01 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1908: Its definitely going to be interesting!
01 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1908: Not that interesting. France ought to walk over you two
01 Jun 16 UTC Autumn, 1908: I cant tell if that is a joke or not...
03 Jun 16 UTC If you guys are interested, I'm willing to call it a day
03 Jun 16 UTC I'm down.
03 Jun 16 UTC yeah ok
03 Jun 16 UTC so everyone please vote draw
03 Jun 16 UTC gg guys. thanks :)
03 Jun 16 UTC great game :-)
03 Jun 16 UTC Indeed, thanks all.
03 Jun 16 UTC Wait. You guys included me in the draw? Ok, well, I have to give kudos for being entirely unpredictable.

It is true that such a coherent WT is a thing to behold and a downright terrifying one for the eastern half of the board. That really was impressive!
03 Jun 16 UTC And I got 2@ from it! Paaaarty tiiiime! :D
03 Jun 16 UTC I agree. Germany and England - it was a pleasure to cooperate with you (until my perfidious stab that is :-D )
03 Jun 16 UTC Wait, I thought it was Albion that was supposed to be perfidious? (Note: any ingame crankiness was purely bluster in a desperate attempt to change to game's dynamic)
03 Jun 16 UTC Homewrecker! It's a good tactic, really. Seeing this work out I'd certainly hate to be on the other side of it.
